September 29, 201113 yr I have one Minolta and Yashika film slrs. I don't use them anymore but they were awesome. I used to love hunting fir black and white film and taking family portraits. Alas no more of that. :-( On a side note I love my Sony alpha.
September 29, 201113 yr Call me creepy, but developing makes me relate more to the film. It's just another step to the process that finishes your shot:1) Find shot2) Find correct angle 3) Orientate yourself and the lighting source4) Decide what f/stop and SS you want for your finished look5) take multiple shots(Ends here for digital mostly)6) Record f/stop and SS 7) Once you finish the roll of film, wind it8) take film out of camera, and in a darkroom/ darkbag, put the film in the development container9) develop negatives (lots of steps in this but thats boring)10) after negatives dry, check them out! Always a fun step. The first sign of a mess-up is here11) Take negatives to enlarger12) Test strips13) apply filters14) test strips15) dark-room photoshop ninja stuff16) develop picturesI dunno, those extra steps just make me feel that much more accomplished when i have the print. Also however, you can take a perfectly awesome shot, and ruin it SO many ways. I mean, you can ruin your whole roll of film in seconds. So it can be frustrating, but with most things, the payoff is worth it Sorry for writing a book. Been a while since I've talked about stuff like thisEdit: i read this again. I didn't mean to come off as a "know it all". The steps listed there are simply what i did and may not, probably are not, the best way to set up a shot. What i learned is that I didn't want to do photography for a living, so i tried what i was taught, but also formed my own techniques that worked for me. September 29, 201113 yr Nah, some good things were said ... I have never developed my own film .. EVER... Just not practical for most people unless it was for a living... But I'm all about the digital world... lol
September 29, 201113 yr Author it's all good, it's nice to hear about the "history" of photography and then compare it to newer technology. i don't think i have the patience to develop photo's though hahahaha.
