Hey guys, I'm starting to design my system that I'm going to be putting together this summer. I wanted subs that have """SQL""" type features, which is why I'm thinking the 12" xcons are the best way to go. The box design I have come up with is going to go in my 2002 Hyundai XG350L. I am going to seal it off from the trunk, and have the port coming through where the backseat center armrest folds down. sort of a skipass type thing. I believe that I will be running either a SAZ-3500 or an AQ3500 but I will make the decision when its time to purchase. Let me know what you guys think, weather or not it will work. I don't know if I should put 45's in or not and weather or not the port will work. Thanks for the help!

I'd definitely add some bracing since the port is free-standing in the box and not helping brace anything at all.

heres a couple of other pics of the box from different angles so you can see what im saying.

yeah I was planning on adding some bracing in I just havnt added it to the design yet, do you think just 1" dowels will be sufficient enough? ill throw some in the design and repost.

looks big enough, for the two subs, even though your running the port toward or through the back seat, you might need some sound dampener, hope it come out nice

Heres the box redesign, I added in 45's for support and 1" dowels to help the front and back from flexing. @Samuel, I figured that I going to have to do some sort of deadening where the port comes through the metal of the seat. I might just deaden the whole seat because that is going to see some intense vibrations.

why not use the port for bracing ?adding a few pieces of MDF to connect the top and bottom plate on the port , easy enough , almost no consuption of space and effective ,

using the port to connect front and back plate and baffle would also be very effective , no need for those dowels

So something along the lines of this?

I believe doing that and adding the 45's for support will make this box strong.

if you added some mdf to go from the port to the backplate to support that around the middle you'd be golden !

You could also just put a couple of window braces on each side of the port, going from the port to the side. That'll brace the top/bottom/sides.

how would this work? you think ill have to change the port dimensions because of the added space taken up?

did a little bit more editing, this is what i would consider a final design. I added some space because of the added bracing, box is tuned to 33hz with an f3 of 29.06hz.

Nice. I saw the first pic of the window bracing and was going to suggest bringing them further away from the interior port opening...looks like you did that on your own.

Thats one thing that I was wondering if it was gonna work out all right, I wanted to seal everything off besides the port which will be put through a seat pass through. I don't know if there is going to be cancellation problems with the seats being up? Thats one thing I was looking to someone with more experience.

so I figured I'd give you guys an idea as to what im saying its gonna be like, The picture shows the box coming through what would be a made pass through in the back seats where the center armrest folds down. so if you can just imagine the seatback extending off of the trim piece around the port. the piece thats attached to the pass through is where my carputers gonna be housed. In the part thats open faced. The box will be sealed off on the edges from the trunk(sealing it off from cabin) I want no trunk rattle haha. Im thinkin I might do something like clear plexi glass so that you can see the computer guts, throw some l.e.d. lighting in there for cool looks.
