Alright well i finally got some cash and am looking to upgrade. Right now i'm looking at 2 Sundown SA-15's but i'm at a loss for what amp to run. I will set my gains right and I've heard these things are really beastly so I was thinking something in the 3k range? If anyone has some amp options or maybe even different subs. I have $450 for subs and around $350 for an amp. I realize the SA-15s are a bit more than $450 but I don't mind an extra $20.

Short version

2 15's or something else to fit in around 7 cubic feet $450

3k amp $350

I will have the electrical to back it up

Give me suggestions, if you want more info just ask

Thanks in advance

DylanH

If you don't plan on competing then why do you want an amp that can supply enough RMS for five SA series subs when you only have two? And I mean that question with no smartass nonsense. There are plenty good reasons!

A loud daily. I don't plan on competing but I might a few times. Its going in a 2000 Ford Ranger Extended cab

Also just because I don't compete doesn't mean I don't want it loud.

But your talking about sending almost triple their RMS to them. That's a little much for daily.

Wait, you guys know i'm talking about 3k for the pair right?

Or how about 4 12's that will handle 3k for all 4 and under $450

Why do you need to run 3k?

Going to be hard to get four 12's for like $110 a piece that i would recommend over two SA'-15s.

But yeah, why are you stuck on 3 kilowatts? I can say that running two SA-15's at 1500 watts a piece daily is not the safest plan. I don't know about you, but personally I hate worrying about burning a voice coil or causing over excursion. Have you heard two SA-15's receiving 600 watts a piece in an adequate box?

Honestly I'd say if your convinced to run a 3k amp then search the internet till it's end for a pair of used Z 15's. Or Fi audio BL's. Or many many other subs.

Alright well, i've came up with a new plan. What would you guys think about 8 10s in a sealed box or would it be better to go with like 6 10s in a ported box? I don't have enough room to port the 8 10s otherwise I would. I already found some 10s they arn't the greatest but they will get the job done just gotta find an amp

I think you are baked.

Just because you run a lot of power does not equate to loud. A good box, appropriately chosen subs, and the right install will get you loud. Hell in the early 90's it was possible to put up numbers competitive today with only 150w. Fixating on spending a poop ton of money on electrical upgrades to run a big amp you don't need, don't understand and will inevitably cause you problems is just flat out dumb IMO.

Just like everyone else, why not FIX this thread so that we can actually help. You've given us absolutely nothing to go on and have just asked questions that show you are in way over your head.

Alright, sorry man. But after hearing that i'm thinking something like an Aq 2200d on 8 10s sealed unless you guys think 6 10s ported will be louder. I just want a loud ass daily. Mainly just louder than my 2 12" Type R's on 1k which I doubt will be hard to beat.

2000 Ford ranger extended cab. I have around 7 cubic feet to play with, budget is $450 for subs, $350 for an amp. I'm looking for the most cone area I can fit into the room I have. Looking for a loud daily driver.

Wall it, do your 8 10's sealed, on even 500 watts I think you'll be blown away.

You don't have enough space for even 6 ported 12"s.

I think 4 10"s ported, in the normal S-10 style box on a good hunk of power would impress you more then you think.

I'm really liking the 8 10s sealed just because of the amount of cone area

Clearly your not going to listen to anything we have to say. Do what you want.

Whats the S10 style box?

There are two used. Subs forward port up behind driver. Or subs and port up. With port behind driver.

I have 2 SA-15 D4 running off 1 Sundown SAX-1200D and it is pretty impressive for the amount of power. No need to run that much power on a daily type system.

Well the main reason i'm looking at doing so much power and cone area is theres a guy around here thats got a wall of 16 12's and 7k and its freaking amazing! lol of course I know I won't get to that. He's hitting 153 something last I heard. But I want something thats gonna move air and get loud lol my 2 12's get pretty loud but I need something bigger its like a crazy habit but I love it!

He's doing something wrong, or isn't trying to be loud.
