Hello everyone. I'm in the process of building a small budget system and I want to get the Fi X 12" as my sub in a sealed enclosure. It will get power from Crescendo 1000C4(~500W bridged). I know that the recommended enclosure size ranges from 0.6-1.1 cuft but I don't know if I should go with a larger(1.158 cu ft.) sealed box or a smaller one(0.749 cu ft.). I listen to dubstep, rap(eminem) and rock. I want the sub to have good amount of output and produce good lows. Here are the enclosures that I'm looking at:

So which enclosure is right for me? Also, how would the Fi X Series 12" compare to Image Dynamics IDQ12 V3? IDQ gets recommended a lot for sealed enclosures but it cost's a bit more than I want to spend. Thanks in advance!

well for one image dynamics closed their doors a couple months ago, and i would go with the bigger box, with bigger boxes it takes less power to achieve full output. and if your wanting to listen to rap and dubstep those have alot of lows and id be putting that sucker in a ported box. you would get alot more output and be hitting those lows with athority!!

I have my X 10" in about .7ft^3 listen to rap and rock with ~160 watts and it sounds perfect imo. With that much power buy the BP power option and go smaller sealed. I dont think you would be disapointed in the ~.8ft^3 box. I had my X ported and like it much better sealed than ported. Everything i understand the larger box lowers power handling a bit now i could be wrong and the smaller increases it a bit. With ~500 on a 250 rms woofer you see where im going.

Actually Image Dynamics is not closed. The guy who founded the company decided to leave because of problems with co-owners, and it does not change the fact that they make good products. I can't go ported because I don't want to sacrifice the space in my trunk. I'm not after shattering windows with dbs, I just want some lows.

Thanks for the input! I'm defiantly getting the BP option and I'm gonna lower the gains on my amp accordingly. I'm thinking the 0.749 cu ft box would be too small because after displacement of the sub it would only be 0.669 cu ft and that is smaller volume than your 10" X.

Anyone else has any other opinions on which box I should get for 12" Fi X?
