hi i wanted some info on how take make my electrical system to 14.4 volts i have a 1997 jetta vr6 so i would guess i have 12v system how can i make it higher so my amp would put out the right watts i have a brutus 1605 thanks.

Wouldn't all car put 14.4V when the engine is running?? 12v is from the battery but when the altenator kicks in it bring the voltage to 14.4v, cmiiw.

When your car is off it sits ~12.8v.

When your car is running it runs ~13-14.4v

It is still called a 12 volt system.

the voltage will flux while the car is on, when different electrical accesories come on or are turned on they are drawing current from the system, effectivly dropping the voltage,

options to keep the voltage up are... BIG 3, larger battery, stronger alt, voltage regulator, larger wire etc..

thanks for the info guys. so my best bet would be to do the big three, and possibly a better battery. cause right now i have like one you get at pep boys for like 50 bucks.
