Hello Fi,

A friend of mine has a pro audio set up, and needs to know if it is possible to have recone kits for some Aura subs. They use Neodymium (?) .

He loves how they sounds, they play low and loud !

I can show you pics of the drivers when he send them to me.

He has several ones to recone, they are very old !

These speakers won't go in a car, just in big boxes for live events.

thanks

What a pitty !

I'll ask PAP if they can. Aura don't answer back no more.

If they are the NRT 18s/1808s, PartsExpress sells drop in recones.

I bought some of the last NRT 18s before Aura made drastic changes, I don't know if you can get parts direct from them anymore.

Yes !

I did not remember their "name", but I think it's NRT something !

I will get the pics from my friend phone tomorrow afternoon, and I'll post them.

I will ask parts express too!

95 I hope it's what my homeboy (!!) is looking for. Not cheap but I'm sure he will buy some if it fits. He needs several kits !

I will have the pics tomorrow.

Thanks.

If it is the 18" Auras with the teardrop motor, it will fit. These are the 1808s, NRT 18s, Seismic System 18, North Leviathan, etc.... This motor has been around over a decade....

I don't know if you can get a recone from Aura anymore, I have noticed a ton of thier products being dumped as surplus these days.

I bought my last 4 NRT 18s direct from Aura. These aren't cheap drivers, so don't be surprised by the recone/top assembly prices. I think I payed $750 for each of the 4 NRTs, and that was tax free wholesale price....

I talk to the subs owner : it seems that it's what he's looking for ! I will show it this afternoon on my phone.

You paid $750 : I think he paid twice that price back in the days!!!

Less than $400 a recone kit : he's smiling since I called him this morning!!! He told me he needs 6 of them !:roflmao:

More details later.

Big thanks to 95Honda, to the forum, and to NDMStang65 (I'm sure you can do something if it's not what we want !).

:dancing::thanx:

Those are the 1808 AS Aura woofers. They're very old, but used to sound good, very good, indeed !!!

95honda, do you think the recone kit you showed me can fit ? The screws are not the same quantity, and it's not cheap enough to just get one and try it.

Thanks for the help, guys.

My friend keeps asking me about that !

So here are some dimensions I could get :

VC : 4" diameter

VC Height : 4.646 "

double spider

fixed part of the VC : 1.102"

I don't know if those dimensions are good enough to have an answer, but they are what I have ! If you need more, tell me what to look for please.

Can I have an estimate of the cost to compare with parts-express ? I want to know if it's worth waiting for a Fi recone, or just get a standard one.

Thanks in advance Nick.

Those aren't accurate enough.

You need the thickness of the coil, the exact inner and outer ID.(keyword is exact)

Heigh is something you already have. And maybe also measure inner and outer ID of the gap. :)

Ooh ok !

Thanks for your help Nick.

We will have to order the kit from parts-express so.
