What brand of belt do you guys recommend using with the 270 xp? I put on a new gates belt and i have slipping on a cold start (less than a second). When the engine is warm it doesn't slip. I have tightened the belt up a few times...seems to help a first but is this because the belt is new and still stretching?

I'm still using my stock belt with no problems. I was gonna get a gatorback one but never got around to it. I don't have any slipping.

Which alt are you running?

Are you running the 15.1 voltage regulator?

I idle at 14.9 so I'm pretty sure I am. I asked for it but didn't know if I'd get it or not. 270xp on a 02 Honda accord.

Harvey, you may need to tighten that alternator down more.. or you may need to jump a belt size or two down. If you put a socket into the pulley nut and tighten the bolt with the car off and if your belt moves with your alternator you're good on belt tension, if it stays stationary and the pulley moves it's too loose.

I've tightened down some more yesterday and this morning I didn't hear any slipping. I believe the belt is finally broken in.
