Posted April 30, 201114 yr Ok my first post here guys, I sold my MTX terminator's i know haha really cheap 12's with a crappy amp but to me they honestly weren't that bad although i haven't heard anything other than that and kicker comps. i'm just now starting to learn about car audio. right now i havealpine cda-105 HU alpine type r coaxial 6x8s up frontalpine type r coaxial 6x9s on the rear deckI was gonna get a 4ch amp and a mono block amp but i came across 5ch amps so u get your high's n mids and sub channel all in one ampthe kicker zx700.5 looks like a pretty good deal and i'd probably come out cheaper getting that vs buying a 4ch and a mono block amp my question is would 70x4 be enough for the speakers(they are rated at 100rms each) and I think the SSA dcon 12 would be a great sub ya? it would be getting 420wrms at 2ohms thats enough right? anyways any advice would be great.I'm trying to get a good sub(gonna go ported) and amp/amps plus box(i could build my own)/wiring for under ~700
April 30, 201114 yr hey man welcome to the forums! this is a great place to learn and ask question! Just don't ask to many dumb ones lol! now in regards to your above question! that amp and that power to the fronts and rears will be plenty of power and it will sound great! don't kid yourself 70rms is nice! now for the DCON isn't that sub rated as a 300rms sub? and that amp can supply nearly 450rms! in short you will be good! I think that 5 channel amp will do the trick for you! it can supply enough power to all the speakers in your car!! congrats nice pic! what is the price on that 700.5 amp? also about your box you said you wanted to go ported? good pick! if you need help with the box you can ask it here but if you want to pay someone to do your box design for you, you should talk to Ram design (member on this forum) he is a nice guy!http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/user/17102-ram-designs/he also has a web site!as for wiring you can either get an amp kit or just make your own amp kit! as in purchase wiring, fuses, rca, and away you go! a great site to get nice pricing on kits would be KNU Koncepts, and if you want to make your own that site will work and you can also check out welding supplies for cheap wiring! http://www.knukonceptz.com/productMaster.cfm?category=Amp%20Installation%20Kitsjust make sure to buy enough RCA's! lol
April 30, 201114 yr Author Thanks for the response. glad i got a good ideathe amp is 300 + 20 dollars shipping on amazon i've looked around i think thats bout the best deal for what i want.as for the box i got the dcon 12 optimal ported design thats in the download section my dad's got bunch of wood cutting tool's so imma get him to help me with that.I just hope the dcon is loud enough for me although i've heard of people with that amp and its usually underated so if it is i could always get another dcon but we'll see.. April 30, 201114 yr You're going from 2 12s to a single one. Hum...But nice choice though. Here is another option : get 1 or 2 dcons and a monoblock amp. Some amps are not expensive at all. For the same budget you can get a 2nd one for your speakers. On the cheap : a 2 channel ampb for the front and you keep the rear speakers on the head unit. With a 5 channel, it will not be easy to upgrade anything. Just my 2 cents !

Just my 2 cents !Yeah, true although I'm going from entry level low end mtx crap that was rated 200wrms per sub and i was only feeding both of them together only 250rms.. so way underpowered that were in a sealed enclousre from my understanding you can get way louder ported. I'm also kinda thinking the SA-12 is more what im looking for cause i hear it's spl oriented(i don't wanna have to upgrade my electrical though..) but i guess i won't really know till i see what dcon's are capable of since i've only used low end 12's.
