New box design for a 15" Ascendant Audio SMD going in the back of a Lexus RX300. This is for Jared Brewer, aka: rxdriver11 from the smd fourm.

Looks great! Those SMD subs are monsters.

I like the port design, I prefer that over a standard L-Shaped.

Does the SMD need to be installed vertical because of its depth and weight? or if it is installed horizontally does the motor need to be supported?

There is a threaded rod in the motor for supporting it when mounted horizontally.

Indeed. I didn't include it in the design, but I gave him an idea of how to brace it in the email I sent...in case anyone was wondering why there wasn't anything back there to support it.
