Posted May 13, 201114 yr I call it the '64 Blazer. It is actually a 95 GMC Jimmy. But everyone calls them all Blazers anyways. The interior is being built to look like a 1964 Impala SS.Hence the name I gave it.Ryan, the owner, calls it Black Betty.
May 13, 201114 yr Author I was actually riding bitch in the back seat in the 1st pic.I think we were going to a show locally.

May 13, 201114 yr Author Background on what I've been doing.....It has a 64 Impala dash sectioned to fit between the doors and stretch to match the windsheild. Metal work by Ryan and body work and primer by me. Paint by someone else.I made B pillars to fit the new seats and floor.Modified the stock passenger side rear panel for the tubs and made new edges for a better fit.Basically made a driver side rear panel since most of it isn't there due to the spare tire. Also made new edges for a better fit.Designed and built a waterfall rear shelf.Smoothed out all remaining parts like the A pillars and tailgate cover and the rear gate trims.Made molds of the tranny tunnel and molds of the rear wheel wells to be covered in carpet. And the floor has carpet now (temporary).
May 13, 201114 yr Author BTW, if there is anything you have questions about or want build pics to, just ask. I have folders full of them.
May 13, 201114 yr Author The seats for this thing were from an early 80's Ford Econoline van.Plan was to have them recovered using vinyl and houndstooth like they did in the Impalas. But houndstooth is crazy expensive IF you can track down enough of it to use.Just finding some was a chore so it was decided to do something different.......Thats alot of red.
May 13, 201114 yr Author In between builds I have been making a center console for this.Gonna be a simple design with some engine turned inserts to match the dash to give it that old SS appeal.Making the base.....
May 13, 201114 yr Author Made some sides and then slapped a piece of 1/4" MDF on top.Routered that off and roughed it in. Here it is when I was mocking the gauge pod.....
May 13, 201114 yr Author I got the center sections cut out and rounded over the edges. This will have an engine turned inlay almost the length of the console. The shifter area wil have this feature also. The area surrounding the gauges will also feature the engine turned jeweling. This will tie it into the dash and give that Impala SS feel we are going for here.
May 13, 201114 yr Author This is the area at the back seats. Slightly gapped for taking it in and out and will be trimmed with black felt for no noise when driving around.....
May 13, 201114 yr Author Now i need to block it out and get it to the painter. But I am only working on this during the down times.
