Posted June 5, 201114 yr I'm thinking about doing a sealed setup under the back seats of my truck for days that I need my back seat. Do SA-8s like sealed boxes?I have an AQ2200D, so if I'm not mistaken, I can run a 2 ohm setup at around 550 watts per sub.Goals for this system: Sound excellent. Not looking to break windows with this system, I just want it to sound great and get pretty loud. I have my 18 for getting loud. I would just like to have some bass for the periods of time I need my back seat.SA-8s might not be my best option. I could do a pair of 10s or maybe even 12s. I don't want to spend any more than $400 for both subs and box materials.Any suggestions for what would work for me?

June 5, 201114 yr Dont know exactly you are wanting to do but STEVE did VERY well on this build so maybe you could take some tips
June 5, 201114 yr I had a down fire built for mine a while back ... wasn't the sound I was looking for, but got suprisingly loud and pounded the crap out of the truck ... didn't take pics of it sorry ...
June 5, 201114 yr Author Thanks for the replies guys. Do either of you know if the SA-8s like sealed enclosures, and if not, do you know of any other 8s that perform excellently in them?

June 5, 201114 yr Yes the SA-8 will work in a sealed box. Depth might be an issue though. I would look at going with a pair of Sundown E8v.2 and run your amp at 4 ohm mono.

Why you want sealed ??Mainly going for SQ. I don't want this enclosure to get too complicated.. I guess I could do a small ported enclosure. Maybe I'll go with an enclosure where each side is isolated from the other, each with a simple slot port towards the middle. That'd be pretty easy and would probably sound good. I wonder if I should do sub forward with a cage or sub up...

June 5, 201114 yr Wouldn't recommend it even though they are some very sturdy built drivers. You would be surprised at the quality and quanity of bass out of them.
June 5, 201114 yr I don't think the E8s would last long on 500 rmsedit: each Edited June 5, 201114 yr by Ohjay
June 5, 201114 yr Author Hmm so I could run 2 E8s at around 250 each.. It's an idea. The two SAs ported at 2 ohms is starting to appeal to me a little bit more though...
June 5, 201114 yr If you can fit the SA-8" and go ported then go for it as that will be an impressive little system..
June 5, 201114 yr How about a pair of the new SD 10s? They have a shallow mounting depth, decent xmax and 500 rms

June 5, 201114 yr Author That the link for sundown sd10 and12Thanks for the link!! I haven't seen those.. Hmm................2 10s in a sealed box is sounding pretty good
June 5, 201114 yr yea and those new sd shallow mounts are lookin mighty sexy, looks like they can take some power too damn!!
June 5, 201114 yr Author dcons?I considered these as well.. Can they take 200 watts more than rated power daily?
June 10, 201114 yr Author I've narrowed it down to either the SD-10s sealed or the SA-8s ported. Now I've got to decide whether I want output or SQ...
June 10, 201114 yr Author I think I'm gonna go with the SA-8s. I'm thinking of doing a box something like thisThe top picture is a view from the front, the bottom is a top view. Each sub would be getting around .6-.7 cubes each. I'm still trying to decide if it would be better to use the same airspace for both woofers, as opposed to separating them like the picture. Let me know what you guys think.
