Posted December 21, 200519 yr How much would it cost for a good tint job for this car (everything but the windshield):Also, what percentages would you go with? I'm figuring 10-15% on the rear/rear sides, something not too dark for nighttime vision. Would like to hear your personal preference though. Is this website accurate as far as laws go? If so, does that mean I can only do 70% on the front sides but up to 0% on the rear/rear sides?http://www.tintdude.com/laws.htmlLastly, any tint places yall would recommend? Sorry about all the questions, I'm a total tint noob.
December 21, 200519 yr limo on the rear, in between limo and legal on the frontgot it done through a hook up in my car club
December 21, 200519 yr Laws will vary between states. Here, it's illegal to have anything on the front or back, even stickers. People do it anyways. I'd guess around $150 for your truck. Ever think of trying it yourself?
December 21, 200519 yr oh you tint n00bs have no clue....Do not try it yourself. I'm guessing it won't be $150 because of the area you live in, its socal, there is lots of business and cars and tint shops, so the price shouldn't be that bad. I'd say $115-$135.As far as laws, I beleive that site is still correct, but it is outdated. I have a 2005 florida vehicle law book so I'm fimiliar with my state laws. I don't know where else you could check.
December 21, 200519 yr 5 % all around cost 150 bucks around here, but we dont have many tint places. FYI my tint on the front 2 and the strip is illegal, but whats the fun in going 35
December 21, 200519 yr When I tind windows I would have charged you $130, but that was in arkansas. I would expect ~$150 in CA.Tint dude is accurate. As far as what to get. 70% on the front sides will be light, a brow will help block the sun (make sure it is legal height.) I would go for 10% in the back and sides. Dark enough to not see in but light enough that you can still see backing up at night.

December 21, 200519 yr I literally have spent about $400 in tint on my jeep.As far as 70%, don't even bother! Either go illegal where it'll actually function or save your money.
December 21, 200519 yr Author Thanks a bunch guys. I'll probably go 10% rear/rear sides and a legal sized strip on the windshield. Not sure about the front sides yet, maybe 35ish. From all the bad stories I've heard about tinting yourself, I really don't wanna try it. I've seen far too many effed up tint jobs from DIY jobs around here.
December 21, 200519 yr if u take ur time and take off ur door panels and keep everything dust free its not THAT bad, but u can always go the spl route ... spray paint
December 22, 200519 yr Author I would try it myself any other time of the year, but I figured I'd just ask the parents to get me tint for xmas.
December 22, 200519 yr Good idea, if you think carpet is bad try tinting a really curved window. Beeeeyotch!!!! It is not fun. The flat ones are pretty easy (in comparison) though.$150 is reasonable and probably would cost you more than half of that just for supplies. Would make a great Xmas present. Oh, and of course we expect before and after pics.MN is a female dog. 50% on any windows in a car....mine are 30% and no troubles yet.
December 27, 200519 yr Author I forgot to take before pics, sorry (just look at the first pic in this thread to get an idea). Went to get this at noon, so my brain wasn't fully functioning yet to snap pics. Cost me $120, lifetime warranty 5% rear, rear sides35% front sides (a bit light to keep 5-0 from pulling me over)5% sunstrip on the windshield
December 27, 200519 yr the truck is lookin better now Dennis, you still need some Type-R stickers though

December 27, 200519 yr Author Looks really nice I'm a fan of black garbage bags myself.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Thanks Steve, I personally prefer coloring in my windows with a big sharpie.
December 28, 200519 yr Author looks good, going to lower it? <{POST_SNAPBACK}>That's way down on the future mods list, but hopefully eventually.
