I have two BL tens and I was looking to recone them but I can't figure out if it has a flatwind coil. If it doesn't can I upgrade to it without it being a problem? How can I tell if it has one or not cuz I need it but idk if it'll work with it

look thru the cooling vents on the basket with a flashlight... the flatwound coil will be just that, wire that looks like its pressed flat and wound around the bobbin

You will see to the left is the normal round wire coil, the right, flatwound. as far as i know it can be upgraded no problem. well at least it worked on my Q.

If your VCs are FW then it will be written in black sharpie right above the coil. As stated above, look through the cooling vents with a light.
