Posted January 12, 200619 yr I used to have a 15 inch avalanche and i LOVED it. i would have ran 2 but they stopped making them. im looking for a great setup that is an LSQ setup which hits the lows GREAT. i want it to be hard to breathe in the car. im thinking of maybe 2 SI mag 15s with probably a 1000/1 on each. will probably be 8cuft ported tuned to 30hz. has anyone heard an avalanche 15 that can compare them? i have 4 15 RE SEs right now but i only installed one and i decided they were not what im looking for. any help will be appreciated thank you.
January 14, 200619 yr What sort of vehicle is this in?All I can tell you is that I've heard a pair of the older SI Mag 15s vented in a large box in an Explorer with less power than you are talking about... and it was crazy. Could make your breath skip a little bit and was quite painful to the ears, IMHO. And on that note, the new Mags are even louder than those models.Unfortunatly I cannot directly compare for you... but suffice to say a pair of 15" Mags vented is stupid loud, goes way low, and still sounds great.
January 14, 200619 yr I don't think you'll find many that have the experience with both drivers. You may go to other forums and find people with "opinions," but they will more than likely lack a direct experience with both drivers in comparison.
January 15, 200619 yr Author its going in a 2002 escalade.i really want to take a chance of buying the si mags but im so picky with my sound preferance and i dont want to waste any money. i might get my ava reconed and buy another and run 2 zapco 750s. or possibly run 2 mags with 2 1000/1s. both ported, 28-30 hz tune. 4 cuft each sub. as much port area as i can.thanks for your reply guys.

Very clen and very accurate. I own a 12" mag again, very clean and accurate. Honestly either will get you what you want. I personally like the Mags better.
January 16, 200619 yr hopefully in a couple weeks my 15" ava will be replaced by two 12" mags, i'll let ya know how it goes. Not exactly a fair comparison, but close enough. btw from what i've heard the mag is a clear winner in the power department. My ava doesn't like the 1200W i'm sending it, even with impedance rise she still gives me a coil stink from time to time. Hoping i can run the two mags at 1/2 ohm on the orion with good results.
