Posted January 14, 200619 yr OK, so as some of ya know, Johnny Avarado is no longer with Powerbass. Johnny was the guy with the hookup for recones. Today I tried to get some XSD1 recones, & they said they knew they had the version 2 D2's no D1's , but will call me back if they can find any Version1 D1's. Also, they have recones for the ES subs, but they don't have any for the ES Double stack line......so I say, if you all compete with the powerbass subs, order up some recones NOW, weather you need them or not, otherwise you may not be able to get them. Some have said the Atomic AP recones will work NO THEY DON'T. the AP's are 2 1/2" VC the XS's are 3" on the 15's, I do not know about the 12's(The Atomic AP's use the same basket though.....so does RE, & 1/2 the audio world...IMO it is the loudest basket available)Also, if you compete check out the USACi SW regional website, as there is some kick azz new classes this year (caraudioevents.com)
January 19, 200619 yr how does the basket help a sub be loud, just by its rigidity to support the moving assembly? not being a smartass or anything, asking a serious question, i'm curious.
January 19, 200619 yr I know for a fact, the original RE 18" 12spoke baskets...were "louder" than the newly machined RE 18" baskets. NG
February 23, 200619 yr Author the basket can limit exusion, can only allow for a certain #of spiders, & can also effect the backwave from the cone. Just using audiobahn as an example here......their first SPL sub had the AW lines basket, all Audiobahn did was change the basket to the big 4 spoke design & the subs gained substantially. I do not know exactly what makes them louder, but my guess less restriction on the back of the cone.
