one 15" mag in a 2.2cf @30hz box off a crossfire vr1000d.I will be putting her in a 3.7cf@27hz box this weekend, will there be a noticeable difference?.The low end in this box is crazy enough as it is.Just wanted to say thanks Nick and everyone who encouraged the purchase(by reading other threads). Can't wait to get it in the right box and let her shine. :bigok:

wow that big of a difference you will really notice the difference, I have not tested a 15, but the 12 I tested was one of the best I have heard, good luck and post pix

Night and day.  I don't know how you even got the thing to make anything other than a fart in that small enclosure.  Sealed I can see, but vented at 2.2????

Well i just wanted to listen to it and break it in, so when i get the new box, i can pound it right away if need be.It doesn't sound too bad on a lot of the lower notes.

^^ Exactly what Ryan said. If you like it in 2.2 ported you're going to shat yourself when you get it in the appropriate enclosure. :fing34:

now, that's what i want to hear. :woot:

whats up everyone, how would a single D2 15 compare to a setup using 2 SS RL-P 15's with an orion 2400D powering em.... Also what is the XMAX on these puppies. THe only time I've ever heard these, was a few years ago and it was the 240sx customer install on their website, and it was serious...

YOu can't really do a comparison in this instance. You have double the displacement potential with dual drivers versus a single. There's a clear advantage. Now, put that single Mag up against a single RL-P and you have a valid question. Problem is, I don't know that there are people with experience with both drivers who can offer an unbiased opinion.

I figured it was beastly enought to almost be a comparison.. Wow i didnt know it was that close... I mean one 15 RL-p is half the price, thats why i compared the two, because they would be the price of 1 mag...I figured one mag could compared to One RL-S, who knows either way, youve definatley helped me make up my mind...Thanks...

The RL-P is more than half the price of one Magnum. They are cheaper than the Magnums, but not by 100%. The Mag was never intended to be a "budget" driver. It was designed and built with a no compromises attitude and that's just what it does. Personally, I think the driver is a bargain. I am biased of course, but that is not without merit. The Mag made it's way into my heart by shoving aside a Brahma, XXX, and W7. All damn fine drivers in their own respect.

It beat all those woofer IUO?? WOW ive owned all of em, except the XXX, and thats impressive, but it should be for the price...I might be wrong, but the 15 RL-p is 279 and the Magnum listed on there website MSRP is 549..so yeah that is half, but i did notice the direct pricing thing on there site so it is probably less, Im just stating what it says on both websites....Either way The two 12's i heard did amaze me just not for the price of them...I would love to know more of your thoughts on these subs though, how u have it setup, what music u listen too(im guessing u have them because of ur bias and all) but if not i would still like to know more...How did they beat out the brahma and others in your oppinion? THanks again man i appreciate all the info. Ive owned 1 12 brahma loved it but still wanted louder, 1 12" IDMAX def wasnt loud enough...! 18" Beyond Audio Inhuman loud enough, just not tight enough..lol, and 1 12" W7, and that just sucked for the MOney IMO...let me know..

John

Right now Direct Pricing is over $100 less than what's on the web page ($400 shipped actually for a single 15). But like Tirefryr said, we didn't skimp on the build of these new drivers in any way, shape, or form. Our single 12's have regularly beaten 12's that cost ~$1000 each, so IMO they're worth every penny even at MSRP. If you're concerned about cost, why not run a pile of Incriminator 187's? They are very loud inexpensive subs.

WOW i didnt know it was that much less...Thank god for direct pricing lol.. My concern is not cost i was just stating at 550 i thought it was a little rough for something comparable to the RL-P but at 400 shipped that is a freakin deal...IM not saying anything bad about theses subs and im not trying to, IM just trying to get a feel for what they are similar too, thats all..SO thanks again for the info it is much appreciated, i switch systems up alot so im sure this will be a part of mine when its time to make some changes down THE road(i have some weird unconscious need to test all the great subs)..THanks again..

just remember that you pay for what you get i can tell you from expierence that the D2 is a very impressive sub even if they were say 400$ more than any other sub of your choice it is worth the price diff for the durabilty. i have had mine since mid 04 and i tend to abuse subs. i never once have any problem with them and they are still going strong. intill i bought the D2 i was about a pair of subs at least every month and thats not just the cheap subs that i was getting. i take them to comps and leave with trophys with a daily driver. i know that you will be very happy with the D2

you're absolutely right Nick, my new 3.7cf@27hz box xounds crazy. It just amuzes me that this box looks smaller and fit in my trunk easier than my old 2.2@30hz box.None the less this thing sounds incredible, still need some play time with it though before i give a final thought. :D

but doest hat sound normal, for a bigger volume box to look smaller. My installer said my last box had a lot of port area and thats why its bigger.Just want to make sure everything is correct. My friend builds great boxes but i like to double check everything just to make sure.Sorry for all the questions. This was the box design of my old box but it was 2.2cf not 2.5.http://edesignaudio.com/Products/16Ov2Subwoofer/BoxDesigns/idealvented.gif

Witht the increased vent area, the vent length will be greater therefore taking up more enclosure volume. To offset this factor, the gross volume of the enclosure would have to be increased to account for the greater vent volume therefore necessitating a physically larger overall enclosure.

that's what i thought, but would there be a difference in sound from say my box 3.7cf@27hz with 25sq inches of port and a box that's 3.7@27hz with 35sq inches of port?

there's a chance you might get port noise with the 25 sq. inch box at high power levels, but other than that, not really.
