Posted September 19, 201113 yr Lookin into getting a glock soon & want to know what pros/cons between carring a glock 19 or a glock 21/30. Yes there all glock yes one is 9mm yes the others are 45mmjust looking for oppinions on how glock owners feel...
September 19, 201113 yr The 19, its slightly smaller and ammo is cheaper. If you have it, you need to shoot it, and you can shoot more and get more training for cheaper with a 9mm vs a .45. The other advantage is 19's are everywhere, holsters are easy to find used, mags are easy to find, etc.
September 19, 201113 yr May I ask why it has to be a Glock? They are fine weapons, just unwieldy as shit, one of the most uncomfortable handguns ever. The 30 will be the easiest to conceal but will be the most uncomfortable (and worst accuracy) while shooting and has the lowest capacity. What exactly are you wanting out of this weapon?I've never seen a 45mm handgun

September 19, 201113 yr It's not 45mm....0.45in = ~ 11.5mm But yeah definitely should go out and buy a handgun.
September 19, 201113 yr I see, well are are pretty easily concealed, obviously the 30 will be the easiest to hide. I find that I carry a smaller pistol alot more than I do a larger one, even though I prefer a large caliber, I usually find myself carrying a .22 auto or snubnose revolver simply because I have not yet purchased a large bore/small frame automatic. I have a couple of nice big bore handguns but they are bulky. You have to make the decision, and you will be the one carrying/using this weapon. My advice to you would be to go to a range that offers rentals and try out as many as possible before you decide. At the very least, go to a shop that carries them all and handle each one to see what feels right to you. Is this your first handgun purchase? Unless it was just a fantastic deal, I wouldn't just get into a Glock simply because they are on sale. This is a tool that you may have to employ to save your life and there are many, many choices out there. Do some research and find out what exactly fits your needs.
September 19, 201113 yr my dad has both the glock 19 and glock 23, the glock 23 has more of a kick, (obviously, its a .40 caliber) than the glock 19 (9mm) and they arent that much different in size.. but you're talking about the glock 21 and 30. dont know much about how they are, but the glock 23 is very comfortable in my opinion all glocks are. if you want to check em out, smith & wesson makes great handguns as well and aren't so pricey.
September 19, 201113 yr I've fired a small chunk of firearms and my personal choice for daily carry is my Smith and Wesson M&P edition .45. Good capacity, great knockdown power, and its accurate as shit. The adjustable grips are quite a perk as well.I have fired the Glocks, and they are damn fine firearms. In my chosen profession, quite often you will see our civilian workers, and special forces soldiers carrying the Glocks as well. Also, NUMEROUS foreign forces carry Glock.The tips on firing as many different pistols as possible, and not purchasing just on price is a great tip.J

Thats reason I pick glock plus it is easy to clean & It can be doged n still shoots if the it's clear.

If you are going to carry, get actual training and keep up on it. The caliber debate is worthless, what a .45 gives you over a 9mm is personal preference, little different shooting gun, and less magazine capacity. For all practical purposes it is not superior in stopping power.
September 20, 201113 yr While your at it, check out Springfield Armory, I have the xdm, very comfortable grip, lightweight, accurate, holds 19rds (9mm in my case).

I believe the XD is superior in every way to the glock.We also have an xd with a 0.357 sig barrel, nice firearm.I'm not very informed about the Glocks, but on the xd and xdm just by looking at the pistol you can tell if there's a round in the chamber, and if the hammer is cocked. Oh and the safety works off the grip, so unless your actually holding it or applying force to the back of the grip, it will not fire.

September 20, 201113 yr The 18 is not hard to find, just expensive and illegal in several states. Regardless, you have to spend $200 and register with the atf if they are legal in your state. You will have to send in passport pics and info through a local law enforcement agency like a county sheriffs office. I have not checked on them lately but about 3 years ago, they could be had for about $1k.

Loaded chamber indicators are pretty worthless and it is a solution to a problem that does not exist. You shouldn't be pointing it at things you don't want to put a hole in anyways. Safetys are mechanical items, they can and will fail, it takes the trigger being pulled to fire a gun, and hence why don't point it at things you aren't willing to put a hole in.

It normally takes up to ~120 days to get the ATF to complete the paperwork.

I haven't read anything about issues but I'm not actively looking either.The Glock felt horrible in my hand. I was raised on the 1911 though and perhaps that biased me. Not to mention it's hard for me to seperate Glock from gangbanger in my mind. Other than you cowboy.
