October 24, 201113 yr You won't believe how thickly you have to apply liquid products to get enough mass to block much sound. Then, after many coats, with drying time between each, you'll have a very thick layer of latex paint on your floor - a real PITA if you ever need to get under it. You also run the risk of the hard coating unifying all of the floor's components. It's completely possible - I've done it - to end up with a body that is resonant in a much more troublesome range than it was before.

October 24, 201113 yr Jgenerically speaking you either need mass to block sound (airborn) or a constrained layer to stop adding it (structure born) considering this has neither its whole premise is inappropriate. Personally I would never deal with a companies other products either if they promote this fallacy as a solution.

Lead sheeting or Mass Loaded Vinyl is your friend. Do some reading on SDS site (link in my signature on deadening) and that will help you understand. October 24, 201113 yr To add to what was said, keep in mind that a barrier such as mass loaded vinyl is most effective with a decoupling layer between the barrier (the MLV) and the vehicle body. I believe it's mentioned on the SDS website but hasn't been in this thread, so I thought it was worth a mention.Ideally you would have a layer of closed cell foam or a similar product underneath the MLV.
