Posted October 28, 201113 yr I have a 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500HD that I have added the big 3 in 1/0 and a stinger spp1500d to. Inside I have a crescendo bc2000 powering a dc xl 12 d2 and a merlon meam50.4 powering my components and coaxials. While playing music with the bass up the low notes make the voltage drop. Sometimes down to the mid 12s from about 14.18.What can I do to fix this? Would an alt be the best way to go? If so what size and brand do i need? Also has anyone messed with the alts on dbelectrical.com?
October 28, 201113 yr But what size would I need? How many watts do you have total between amps"? Do you listen to it like that alot with the lights dimming?
October 28, 201113 yr Author Its the brand and model number. You can look at it at champaudio.net. its a Houston, tx based company. And total is about 2450 watts
October 28, 201113 yr I would get the biggest you can afford. But if at all possible add another battery at the amps first.
October 28, 201113 yr Author Whats the minimum I would need? By the video, half of my stock alt would be 65 amps and 100 per 1000 would be a total of 290. So i would need at least a 300 amp alt? Or should I get a smaller one like a 200 or bigger and run dual alts? Edited October 28, 201113 yr by sps1989
October 28, 201113 yr Author But what about the stock electronics? Don't you need to add the draw from them into the equation?

October 28, 201113 yr Author Fairly often. May do comps so I need to make sure it will stand up to it

October 28, 201113 yr Author I'm on a kind of tight budget so what would be the starting size to look at?
October 29, 201113 yr I'd say get the biggest one. Save up for it because competition setups usually have pretty big battery banks and you want an alternator that can keep charging them.
