Posted February 1, 200619 yr well basically i LOVE my 16o.v2 but it just friied on me and well i want to try somthing new ,my amp fried as welli will put the mag in a sealed box ,i will have a 9.1 to power it ,900w @2ohm 1200w @1 ohm the o.v2 got 900w and was in 1.8 cubes and it rocked my world and sounded freakin awesome to me ,so smooth punchy and blended wellbasically what will i gain if i switch to a 15" magnumi listen to EVERYTHING ,i want the loudest SQ possiblethanks
February 1, 200619 yr Author well the loudest SQ possible was a W7 i heard ,so how does it compare to a W7 then ?
February 1, 200619 yr Admin money matters I feel the MAG is the winner, money no object I am 100% sure, but I would probably still choose the MAG,
February 1, 200619 yr Well i'll tell ya, i too have a 16ov2 and i also have a mag d2.I had my 16ov2 in a 2.2 cf tuned to 30hz box off a crossfire vr1000d.Right now i have the mag in the 16ov2 box and it gets louder in this box than the 16ov2, now remember the mag is supposed to be in atleast 3.5cf, so it's not even in its proper enclosure. Not a good comparison as far as i'm conserned.Don't get me wrong i too loved my 16ov2 and i also had their old flat cone e15a.The mag seems like it gets louder in the 40-60hz range than both, just can't compare the low end until i get her in my 3.7cf tuned to 27hz box. MAG>16ov2
February 1, 200619 yr i had a 16ov.2 and switched to a 2nd Gen Mag 12 and well, Mag matched it in output and beat it in SQ. I put mine in a 1.6cu ft sealed box and it was one of the best sub, well probably my favorite sub i've ever used. You'll gain a whole lot.
February 1, 200619 yr Author so a 12" mag will match it in output!!? really... so the 15 will be loud as crap ?
February 1, 200619 yr well the loudest SQ possible was a W7 i heard ,so how does it compare to a W7 then ?<{POST_SNAPBACK}>I personally think W7's sound like crap.
February 1, 200619 yr Author sounds good guys ,i may have to pick one up ,who do i contact to get it direct?
February 1, 200619 yr pm electrodynamic or email [email protected]Actually, your best bet is to go to call and leave a message.http://www.stereointegrity.com/Number is on the site.
February 1, 200619 yr well the loudest SQ possible was a W7 i heard ,so how does it compare to a W7 then ?I personally think W7's sound like crap. They do have a weird sound to them... I suspect "wooshing" through all the cross drilling and maybe some kind of resonance with the cone structure. Sounds "tubby and wooshy" *laughs*
February 2, 200619 yr Mine didn't have a wooshing sound. In fact, it sounded damn fine to me. Not good enough to replace the Mag, but indeed a fine driver. It does help that I paid less then $500 for it as well.

It does help that I paid less then $500 for it as well. Was it in a trunk? I do know that I'm not the only one to hear the woosh. It's not something you'll hear from the cabin if it's in a trunk, and maybe not ever rear firing in a hatch. But it's something I heard in several show cars with the cone firing at the listener. Of course, maybe it doesn't happen on all W7s or it was an unrelated coincidence.I do know I didn't much care for the W7, although that is not to say it's not a very nice sub -- it's very well built for one thing, and has a ton of useful throw. Also has a very low THD and whatnot... just a funny sound to it that I can best describe as 'tubby.' Maybe due to the structural poly cone used on the driver. Maybe due to people using the wrong box creating a hump too, I haven't owned one just heard them on several occasions.

February 2, 200619 yr Well, mine was in the cab of my truck, and I never heard anything odd. Was it evident at all power levels?
February 3, 200619 yr well i have 2 2nd gen D2 15's in a 10 cft box tuned to 36hz with 2 ma 4000D and i went up against 4 13 w7 with 4 e1200 jl amps 2 H.O. alts 4 optima batts each sub is in a 2cft box ported (not sure of the tuning) we were at a comp and he lost to me pretty suverly in fact i have a trophy from that comp granted i am a SPL freak but i can voch that they are verry loud this set up is in a everyday driver it gets played at them levels about every time i turn it on (Nick and jacob can vouch for that) definatly a great investment i can kill about anything and i havent hurt a thing with them yet money well spentHave you heard the new drivers yet?
February 3, 200619 yr no but i would like to get some i need to talk to nick about 3 and i really should sell the 2 i have i have talked to jacob and he said they are mean
February 3, 200619 yr I didn't think the old ones could be improved upon until I got my new one and had some playtime. First words out of my mouth were, "OMFG!" Literally.
February 3, 200619 yr yea i really should get some gen 3 but with the old ones still great cond. its hard to let them go an i am not rich enough to get them without selling lod ones (old lady would have a fit ) bad enough that i spent a chunk of change on some new amps a friend of mine has built and still in testing but they go hand in hand with the D2 so its worth it
February 3, 200619 yr Author so do the mags lose any "firmness" when ported ,one thing i noticed about the o.v2 is when i ported it in 2.2 @30hz it got loud as hell but sounded "loose" ,like it didnt have that PUNCH in the kidney like it did sealed are the mags this way ?and will they take 1500w daily? just curious ,i dont need to give it that at all just wondering

February 3, 200619 yr Author yea i think i will stay sealedbut i have noticed that when you tune lower this makes up for some of the looseness
February 4, 200619 yr "looseness" and our drivers don't go hand-in-hand. Looseness or boomy bass in ported enclosures is a factor of one one or two of the following: the driver; the enclosure. When either of the latter aren't working you have the boomy response that is associated with a lot of the big-woofer, ported-enclosure frame of mind. Take one of our 15's and put it in our recommended enclosure and you'll have a hard time finding any room for the words "boomy" or "loose" unless you built the enclosure wrong or have horrible amplfication/processing.
