Got my new Fi bl 12 with a flatwind coil. i had it hooked up to a pioneer 2 ohm amp at like 600 rms. it was making a strange sound that i couldnt detect. maybe the tinsels hitting the cone? but it wasnt flexing very much. it is a dual 2 ohm voice coil btw.

sorry i wish i knew how to explain it better. i think the link works now if that can help. it sounds like it was reaching its limits but i have seen bl 12s flex twice what mine was at the point it starting making this sound.

Depends on volume, amp setting. Not very long they bottom out and then make funny noises.

is that what i might be hearing then. will they eventualy flex more or are they at their mechanical limits

They are going to make a small noise free air. Its the mechanical noise a woofer makes. I hope you don't have full power going to those free air. If so back down the gain A LOT while they are hooked up free air.

p.s you've only got one coil hooked up.

Been using those for OEM for quite some time, we got tired of people not understanding the concept of the subsonic filter so we designed the spider to have the old loose leads that do not fatigue as much when you are yanking things below tuning like the integrated leads do.

They are a bit more abuse tolerant / dummy proof.
