someone is offering his hifonics brutus bxi 1606d for my Alpine MRD-M1000 should I do it? I know the amp is smaller and will be easier when I redo my box in the nest week, but is it better then my Alpine amp?

There won't be a huge audible difference, the HiFonics and Alpine are both good amps. pick which one you like most and go with it.

ok let say I go with the HiFonics and later on run it at 1 ohms how close would I get from the 1600 watts. Do they do rated rms?

I don't know the ratings on the amp... but it will again, be in-audible.

In order to get a noticable difference in output you must gain atleast 3 dB (human threshold for hearing).. In order do do that you must double your power each time for 1 dB difference.

Here are the specs thats at 14.4 volts

Power Specifications - Full Range Channels

RMS Power @ 4 ohms 550 watts x 1 channel

RMS Power @ 2 ohms 1100 watts x 1 channel

RMS Power @ 1 ohm 1600 watts x 1 channel

I'd keep the Alpine. You won't notice a difference in output and the Alpine is likely more reliable.
