Posted January 17, 201213 yr Just would like some info on how to tune my box correctly. I see these "port calculators" all over the Internet and wonder if they're even reliable.. I'm looking on making a slot port about 12.5"high x 4"wide. The dimensions of the box are 35" wide, 14" high, 20" depth. (outside dimensions). Thanks in advance
January 17, 201213 yr I'm assuming the 35" x 14" is the speaker baffle panel.Also assuming your using 0.75" thick wood, and double baffle.I got 4.3014 ft^3BL displacement: 0.18 ft^3 *2 = 0.36 ft^34.3014 - 0.36 = 3.9414 ft^3Port Area: 50 in^2Port Displacement: 1.021 ft^3Port Length: 35.28 inTuning: 33.5hzNet enclosure volume: 2.92ft^3
January 17, 201213 yr Author Yes it is 0.75" wood, double baffle. But I'm definitely going to have to make some adjustments by the looks of things. 2.9 ft^3 is barely big enough for one sub let alone 2. And also that the port length is deeper than the box itself.. Also do you think that I should brace the inside as well? Edited January 17, 201213 yr by Jwicks

January 17, 201213 yr Author I'm really a noob when it comes to designing a box.. I'd just like to make sure that I'm doing it properly so it won't sound like garbage like the last one I made. (n) Edited January 17, 201213 yr by Jwicks
January 17, 201213 yr Author So I'm basically gonna scrap my design for about the twelfth time.. Been trying to figure this out for weeks!
January 17, 201213 yr The type of sub might help. And I guess we can assume this is a daily set upsub description shows: "2 12" fi BL's to 33hz."

Been trying to figure this out for weeks!Just something to consider: Ryan from Ram Designs on the forum makes enclosure designs, cutouts, etc. He's priced extremely fair, and couldn't make building an enclosure any easier, unless of course he came over to your house and did it himself.
