My current build can be found here.

Decided to try out a ZCON. I probably would not have bought one but I bought this used at a good price. USPS is holding the driver at their facility so hopefully tomorrow I can pick it up.

Really going a different route with the enclosure as well. I picked up a few 8" aero ports from Adrian_D

Enclosure specs : 4.11^ft tuned at 35hz

The port opening is literally right beside the sub. I am very curious how this will work out. I suspect some funky things will happen, we will see. Port will be semi external and sub will be mounted inverted.

I will eventually be powering it with my DC Audio 2.0K that I've had in my closet for four months. Just have to wire/mount it up.

Enclosure is almost done. I have some finishing touches to do yet.

That port looks monsterous, curious about port placement also.

I think there is a possibility that due to port size and location the driver may act as though it isn't in an enclosure :ughdunno: I do not know if I could do some mechanical damage either on 2000 watts.

I am very limited on enclosure size, hopefully this works well.

I will let you know for sure how it sounds!

Looks good man!

Thanks Rick.

I am kicking myself in my arse for selling the 3kwp. It was a powerful and beautiful amp  I should have put it in a glass case in my living room lol. Unfortunately for my current vehicle it is too big and too much power.

I bought the 2.0K back in Nov 2011 when they had a presale. Same as Crescendo, it is a great looking amp and I suspect it will perform just as good.

The enclosure specs itself are fairly decent.

In terms of you scared of it acting leaky because the port is so close, no, it will not.

Think of it like this-

When the sub is put in a volume, regardless of where the port is, the volume is what influences the output capability.

The smaller the volume, the more it likes higher notes, the larger the volume, the more it likes lower notes.

Where the port is does not change that.

However, placing ports in different sides of a box can greatly effect SPL based on firing direction, 1\4 wave theory, time-alignment theory, etc.

But it does not negatively effect how the sound is pressurized.

Do not think that the sound must "pressurize" and then look for an exit..

Instead, the volume itself influences the SPL capability of your playable range before any sound is even present..

That should change the way you think about it.

Now, I hope you properly obtain your desired tuning frequency using a port that large!

6" Aeros are usually always enough for a single 15 for daily FYI.

Thanks for your input!!!!

I used PSP port calculator to determine port length for the volume I have. I deducted the port volume as well when calculating net volume.

Overall port length is between 22-23".

That port looks HUGE! haha, very nice edoub  need more pics

I have no idea what I am doing with a port this big :) Hopefully it sounds good and gets decently loud ;)

No more pics today but maybe tomorrow!

8" looks a lot bigger in pictures than text haha

How soon will you get this in edoub? And installed

well, you aren't using flares either. Flared ports look ridiculously large so that's probably why.
