Posted February 3, 201213 yr I'm going to be purchasing a table saw in the near future. My question is: how big do I need? The only local place to buy MDF in my area only sells in 4x8 sheets, so I'd have rinse this saw with that initially. I found a nice looking one at lowes for $150. It's a 10". I don't know what the 10 inches refers to.. Would that be big enough to get the job done on a 4x8 sheet of MDF? If not, what about 4x4? I think lowes can cut the sheets in half for me.
February 3, 201213 yr For 4x8 sheets I cut them down with a straight edge and a circular saw or router like the one below.10" refers to the saw blade size!
February 3, 201213 yr I wouldn't waste the money on a cheap table saw. If you only have $150 get a circular saw or even a cordless circular saw.

Lots of circ saws in that price range though, but if you need a fence too you'll have to fabricate one or up your budget.
