Posted February 19, 201213 yr I was wondering if anyone has done builds on a 97-00 Honda crv and how much space I should leave between the box and hatch?
February 19, 201213 yr hard to say.... some installs really need that wall to load off of ... and some dont.. Edited February 19, 201213 yr by bigjon
February 19, 201213 yr Author Yeah friends say no less than 6" but if i could go less would be better for more ft^3
February 19, 201213 yr Author Well my year crv doesn't really have alot of cargo space so i was planning on running 2 15's box would be pretty tall or 2 12's and that box would probably fit best but still haven't decided yet.
February 19, 201213 yr You need Atleast as much room from port to hatch as the port is wide. If you don't have a lot of space I'd suggest the 2 12s, since you will save the most space since ported boxes are generally large. After you choose subs you can figure out your enclosure size and port size/tuning Edited February 19, 201213 yr by Mathew
February 19, 201213 yr I agree. There's no sense trying to shoehorn in 15's with a box that's not optimally sized, tuned or oriented. Especially when a pair of 12's could very well outperform said 15 setup with an optimal enclosure.A pair of 12's can do very well and when space is an issue one is almost always better off going with what can work optimally as opposed to forcing something that won't.
February 19, 201213 yr Author Well I can get atleast 8ft^3 but my Max height is 33" and my box would be 24" do y'all think i will have problems with the box that tall?
February 19, 201213 yr Author I even have room on both sides so air can flow if it can't flow well threw the top of the box.
February 19, 201213 yr just keep in mind, port area with tuning can take up quite a bit of space (my box is 6.25cubes and after sub and port displacement its 3.95cubes for 1 15) along with your sub displacement. port area is just as important for the right sound as the box itself.
