Alright guys, I know I did everyone dirty with the last pics so I decide to make up for it. I had to get the shell back in order and sealed up, so there wasn't much to see there other then dust. But

Alright, I made some good progress this weekend! I was able to get a lot done on the Jeap as well as get my girls box almost ready for paint. It ended up being a nice weekend for doing everything, not

Alright....I wasn't able to get as much as I would have liked to get done. But I did make progress. The damn weather just doesn't know what it wants to do. Last weekend it was 20 degrees and snowing,

Which picture?

That is a custom eq pod for my old alpine 11band. It had a little trouble though with all the vibration so I took it out for now.

looks crazy so far.. cant wait to see some vids :)

You got serious skills !

Congratulations.

Nice kid too. :)

What do you plan for mids & highs ?

  • Author

Mids and highs are really already done as you can see here...

IMGP0024-1.jpgbut I will probably be adding a couple 5 1/4's just behind the headrest area for some rear fill. I run an older Coustic XM5e crossover that has 3 way crossovers with the addition of a center channel and rear fill. I may also do some speakers in the amp area in the back. But that is yet to be decided.

LED's should be in next week. And I will try and get the other side piece done this weekend along with getting the one I already made sanded and shaped.

Stay tuned...

O snap getting some light action going on i like that!

Glassing on the door looks stellar, but may I ask what led you to the drivers' mounting locations?

I know this an SPL build, but I just wondered why you had one of the smaller mids up top, then another down below, and are those tweeters near the top mid? If so, why the different aiming.

  • Author

Actually its not SPL. It does get loud, but it had a great BW allowing me to play damn near anything from chopped and screw to alternative rock. I designed the doors to do multipurpose. The 6" drivers are mainly for when the doors are open to help carry the mid range a bit. Since the 4's are a bit weak for that. I chose the locations of the mid/high as you see it to give the best imaging IMO. With them positioned as they are the highs are centered with the mids giving them a fuller sound. With them being angled like they are, the direction is focused on both the driver and passenger from opposite sides. Helping keep things somewhat centered. The 4's help bring the staging up more rather then having it focused down in the lower part of the vehicle.

I also want to be able to turn the subs off and still have good mid bass.

Interesting concept, not sure how the lower mounted drivers would interfere with the "staging", nor do I know your cross over points.

  • Author

All drivers have there own channel of amplification. With the doors closed the 6's have very little impact on the sound quality really. The 8 is ran solely for mid bass and the 4's handle mid range. The 1" are crossed at 2k IIRC. Staging is a bit forward. But that is why I think I will add the 5 1/4" in the rear to balance it out. SO far it has had no problems keeping up with 55+

I got some more done this weekend. Between a sick baby and the weather I slipped in a couple hours of work. It really sucks doing FG in the cold! Things just don't work right....

So after learning a couple things from the other side, this panel went much more smoothly. I was able to bang it out in just a couple hours.

On to the pics...The frame

I had to modify it a bit to get the ring in this one. But I will be back filling it to make it strong once I'm done.

Keep in mind it was 25 degree's out. So my mud was thick as shit! I put it in front of the salamander for a bit, but it didn't help much:(

That's it for now. LED's should be here today or tomorrow.

So my LED's came in yesterday. And what can I say...these things rock! They are bright as hell and should light up the inside pretty well! I chose the bright white for a neutral lighting color. I was thinking about using blue or maybe red. But in the end decided on white.

I got home and opened them up and hooked em up to a power supply right away. They seem like they are quality built and I don't think I will have any issues. So onto the pictures....

Alright, I was able to get all the panels finally covered with filler. And all panels are pretty straight. So I went ahead with getting them installed so I could test fit the subs to make sure I can get them to fit. I also got to play around with my new scopemeter. I hooked it up to my pioneer to mess around and get a feel for the new meter. It is going to make a world of difference going forward I can already tell.

So on to some updates that everyone wants....First the panels.
