Posted March 8, 201213 yr So im building my first box out of 3/4 mdf...what size bit and screw should i use? Also whats the best glue i can get...money aint really a problem right now so give ur .02...
March 8, 201213 yr I use Titebond IIIAnd screws I'm not exactly sure on the screws, I just used wood screws though, full threaded, black ones, they worked pretty well. Also, very important to pre drill, with my experience MDF splits easily, fair warning lol. GL!
March 8, 201213 yr You will not need titebond 3 since the main difference between 2 and 3 is that 3 is waterproof. Use coarse threaded drywall screws, like said above make sure you predrill ALL your holes.
March 8, 201213 yr Author Ok so just use the same size bit as the size screws i use...should i double up on the mdf all around or just on the side where the woofers will be?

March 8, 201213 yr Author (4) 15" cvrs on a hifonics bxi2010d and the box will be 16cu ft tuned at 35hz...inverted subs facing up and i cant decide btween a port or a aeroport
March 8, 201213 yr I'm no box designer, but yes, I would atleast at bar minimum double baffle and do some effective bracing.
March 8, 201213 yr Author ok so i bought 2 bottles of titebond 2 and 2 boxes of scews...also bought a jigsaw and some drill bits..some clamps and a 12 pack of shock top..lol..im pretty much in it for real...now the problem is that i dont have a box design...and 30 bucks seems steep for one...so wtf do i do?
March 8, 201213 yr now the problem is that i dont have a box design...and 30 bucks seems steep for one...so wtf do i do?Start studying. Once you see what goes into designing a ported box properly. You will see that 30 bucks really isn't that bad. Gotta pay to play. Edited March 8, 201213 yr by brad02420
March 8, 201213 yr 30 bucks is cheap for a properly designed enclosure. Ryan at ram designs is a great guy to deal with and will do what's needed to give you exactly what you want.

Plus, the design is also a bit important.
March 8, 201213 yr Author Ive used ryans services before...great guy and really talented...had the box built for me though...im gonna give him a call in a bit
