Looking to purchase 15" ssd d1 and it will be powered by a soundstream ref1.1000 (1000watts@2ohm). Have always wanted to do a single 15 sealed.

So question is; should my enclosure be closer to 2 cuft or 3 cuft. I listen to mainly, metal, rap and techno. Any input on what size enclosure will work best for my music preferences would be greatly appreciated.

Thnx. Mark

Oh yeah, car is a 2001 VW Jetta. If that matters.

Now i read on the website that a recommended sealed enclosure is 1.5 - 2.5 cuft. However when i was messing around with enclosure calculators. I noticed the larger the enclosure, the lower the resonance frequency. Wouldn't this be a good thing or am i not understanding it correctly. This is the only reason i am wondering if i should build my enclosure closer to 3 cuft.

Anybody out there with some insight???

Thnx. Mark

Build the box to Fi specs, for they know what the driver performs best in. You can always add polyfill if you need to.

I suggest 2 cubes sealed personally.

Thnx for the input guys.

After measuring things out in my trunk 2 cuft would work better, space wise. So, guess I'll start with that. If nothing else, I can try adding some polyfill (since i have two bags of it sitting on the shelf) or always rebuild.

Now its time to get some side work done, so i can order a woofer.

Cheers. Mark
