Ok As the title states, I have a BL 15 that locked up on me. I thought the coil just burned but after taking it out and looking at the magnet it seems that the top plate and the first magnet in the stack are about 1/8" offset from the rest of the magnet stack. I pulled the cone and coil out and yep the pole and the bottom 2 magnets along with the bottom plate are moved over.

Is there suposed to be some kind of epoxy between the magnets to keep them from moving or do they just get held there under screw pressure? I have never reconed a speaker but I would like to fix this one if possible. Can I just loosen the screws and relign the magnets then put the new cone assy in?

Thanks for any help.

If you can post some pictures.

If the magnets moved I don't think you will be able to fix it.

How old is it?

its a few years old

As much as I dislike PSI I know they can fix shifted motors.

Yeah im sure someone else can fix it but by the time I ship it back and forth and recone it I may as well just buy another one.

Epoxy does hold it together, that bond breaks, rarely. If I recall it needs to be baked at 400 degrees F. for 24 hours to take it apart completely and repair it.

Ok get this. After taking a closer look I realized that the magnets havent separated at the seam but instead the top magnet has split into to separarate rings. Guess its time for a new speaker.

Thanks for the input guys.

Before buying a new one, I'd speak with Fi about a defective magnet.
