is the PG tantrum 1200W too much for a magnum 15'' D2? I've seen some birthsheets that have 1500+ watts on this amp. I want real nice SQ in this setup any other suggestions under $400 for an amp? thanks.

I have seen a few people run quite a bit of power to the Mags. Nick rates them at 650, but I can recall him saying they willhandle 1K easily. You seem to be a little over the edge, but it may take it. I would suggest asking Nick directly as I have no personal experience with the drivers YET. You can always turn the gain down so you're not getting the full 1500, or go easy on your volume. I really think you'll be fine, but we'll let Nick decide.

Yes, they will handle more than their recommended power rating quite nicely.

You should be fine....if you get a little scared, just bump that gain down a tad.

I like the tantrum 1200.1, it does pull some current, but great amp, and the price is falling
