so , can the stud on the back of an SMD be removed ?

can I unsrew it ,I need the space !

I'd rather not saw it off because I might want to sell it someday

I don't remember if the "stud" is a stud, or a bolt. If it has threads, you could screw a nut on all way until it hits the motor, then cut off the excess of the bolt, then unscrew the nut.

Leaving you with a shorter bolt, but the threads would still work, and look nice.

Just a thought. :P
