Thanks for your help so far, I was hoping you would chime in.

Hey, I appreciate the effort you've put into the thread and not freaking and getting all defensive when I asked if you'd sell what you bought. That isn't easy to take.

To make you feel better, for my sunroom I bought some RS225's as well to mate with a RS28 since I've seen it done. Well, pretty much that ain't gonna happen. You'd have to be seriously lucky to get an RS28 that'll play low enough to do that...mine didn't pass so I sold the 225's.

Yeah I have nobody to blame but myself. I ALWAYS do research before I buy anything, this time I didn't. I was kind of expecting this thread to go the way it has but I was hoping I could use some of the equipment. I shot an email over to parts express to see if I can get store credit, which if I can I will have a little more money to work with. I bought the tweeters used so I'm s.o.l. on them unless I can sell them.

Everything is usable, none of it ideal. Everything is a compromise in a car....you just made those compromises in a way that is far from optimal. Before doing anything though I'd really determine my mounting locations and decide what you'd do down the road. It may allow you to temporarily use what you have or pieces of.

Loud with decent mid bass. I really don't like any metal tweeter that I have heard, I prefer soft dome. That's pretty much it.

My doors are about as deadened as they can be. They are pretty much sealed. I'm beginning to think the whole active thing isn't worth it for my goals.

I'm looking for some large format soft domes that would pair up with these http://www.diycable....products_id=538 How high can I cross them in the door?

I'm set on locations and the tweeter will be in the a pillar or in the door right under the window. Which ever works best. The woofer will be in my door.

Stefan what are you running?

When I used the ex-anarchies in a two way setup, I had them crossed around 1900hz, then I changed mounting location, and was able to go a little higher. Your going to find that different installations will yield completely different results, so consider my numbers a ballpark figure you can use for finding a tweeter that can mate well.

Hmm thanks.

Large format, low Fs is going to be your friend. It will allow flexibility. Generically crossing the tweeter at 2x Fs is about as low as you'll want it to play. Tweeters are really subjective in nature, but reading through Zaph's test isn't a bad start. At the same time, if they are going in doors you are going to be counteracting yourself a bit. In doors usually means rather off axis which normally means smaller than a 1" tweeter to really perform which limits the LFE as they will have a higher Fs. If you can do pillars it will help, in particular considering the "mid" you are looking at is more of a midbass than a mid.

So can you fit a 3+" tweet up in your pillars?

I could make something work.

Is there something similarly priced that would play a bit higher without giving up a ton of mid bass?

One thing you should consider is the ex-anarchies are designed for sealed enclosures, or ported. Yes they can work in IB, ie: a door, but they may not excel compared to another driver geared towards that alignment.

When I switched mine from the sealed kicks to the IB doors, midbass output was reduced by quite a bit.

Just my experience.

Thanks again. Too many variables!!!

Depends on your definition of midbass. The anarchies are beasts. Not many 7's like that and none of them will excel at being a midrange. You can have output or extension, not both....which of course is why 3 ways exist.

Again, focusing on the install and it's variables are step one. I know doors and pillars, but that's about it :)

It seems like every 6.5 set that I've used or heard has zero mid bass. I don't like crossing my sub super high. I really just want to pull my staging up front and cross my sub woofer lower. Every comp set that I've had I have had to high pass at 100 or 125 to get them loud enough.
