Posted August 17, 201213 yr I'm thinking about trying out a new enclosure for the Xcon's. Current box is 7+ cubesI'm thinking about going sealed and having them firing up. However, I don't think I'm going to like them sealed. If I do a new box and it's sealed, I'd like to keep within these dimensions 48" w x 16" d x 12" hAnd if I do another ported enclosure, I'd cut the width down and just build a taller enclosure and tune it to 30-33hz.Let me know what yall think and what suggestions yall may have. Thanks!
August 17, 201213 yr Do you really think you will be okay with loosing output? I would probably be disappointed but that's just me. The XCONs work great sealed but going from ported to sealed might hurt.

The XCONs work great sealed but going from ported to sealed might hurt. This is what I'm afraid of.....I'm sure I'd be okay with sealed, but I know after a few weeks I'd turn it up loud and be like "what happened!?!"Maybe I'll just make a smaller ported enclosure and try that out. I just want more space so I can put my tools and my second battery in there. Along with subs and port firing up.

August 17, 201213 yr Maybe seal the box you have and add blocks to reduce the volume just to see if you like it.

August 17, 201213 yr Author I'll seal off my box I have now and see how that is, then I'll decide from there. I already have a feeling I'll be building another small ported box.
August 18, 201213 yr Author Ok, for the smaller ported enclosure, I can do 30" w x 30" h x 16" d which according to re box calculator is right under 7 cubes not including port or sub displacement. That seems like more than enough room to do a new setup! Now I'm highly contemplating subs up with side firing port, but I've already had that setup with the 18" so I might just stick to subs/port up.
August 20, 201213 yr Author Well, after messing around with re box calculator and common sense, I have to have a box width of 30" just so I can have the 2 subs fit. Here is what I've come up with....30 x 30 x 1630 x 28 x 16
August 24, 201213 yr Author Might end up doing side firing port since I'm having trouble trying to do sub/port up
