September 22, 201212 yr Author Omg lol haha. Hey at least you tried and went in depth with it. Yeah any help on the box would be amazing.
September 23, 201212 yr Author Anyone please help with a box design im in need of help its my first box

September 24, 201212 yr Author Oh man alton that would be greatly appreciated you have no idea! Id even pay you for your help. You happen to have a cell number? So i could send you pics as idk how to put them on here please
September 24, 201212 yr It's no problem man and there's no need for any kind of payment. I'll PM my number to you and I don't think there's any need to take and post any more pictures at this point. Quinten was nice enough to design a great alignment for you. What I'll do is take that design and dimensions and draw up a 3D Sketchup model of the enclosure for you complete with dimensions and cutsheets to help make it as easy as possible.I don't know what your skills are or what tools you have at your disposal for fabricating your enclosure, but there's a lot of guys in the state of Ohio who are into the hobby. If you need some help I'm sure there's someone locally available who could possibly help out. Otherwise we can guide you through the process. Just remember to take your time, the more patient you are the better the results will be.
September 24, 201212 yr Here's a few pics of what I'm drawing up. Follows Quinten's design to the T except for a brace that I put in the center of the enclosure. With that much panel, even with those relatively low power subs, flex is going to be an issue. Also with the close proximity of the left sub to the port opening the brace has a spot there that should help with sub loading issues that close to the port opening. It shouldn't take up enough space inside the enclosure to affect the tuning in any audible way and really is necessary for the bracing at least. If someone thinks the subs would be fine in that arrangement without the little loading baffle there let me know it won't take 5 minutes to take it out.Otherwise this is the enclosure that was designed. The port measures 8 3/8" tall by 3" wide which is exactly 25.125sqin of port and is the prescribed 19" long. If all looks good I'll break down the cutsheet and get it posted.
September 24, 201212 yr Here's a few more shots with the rounded edges completed. They're not a requirement, but it sure wouldn't hurt anything either. At this point it's more for my own practice and the aesthetics of the drawing than anything else.
September 24, 201212 yr Author Looks sick my dad has every tool i could possibly need. Hes good with wood work also. Thats perfect dude. Yall are amazing. Is there measurements on the pics? If so i couldnt see them im sorry could i give you my cell number?
September 24, 201212 yr You will want to get that brace 1.5 tines the width of the port away from the end of the port so it doesn't add to the port's length.
September 24, 201212 yr PM with my cell number will be coming your way shortly, thanks for reminding me, I almost forgot.Yeah the basic measurements of the enclosure are in those pictures. If everything looks like a go then I'll get the cutsheets broke down and posted up. The enclosure should sound really good.
September 24, 201212 yr You will want to get that brace 1.5 tines the width of the port away from the end of the port so it doesn't add to the port's length.Oooopps..... got that fixed now.... There's five inches between the port opening and the brace.
September 24, 201212 yr Author Great you all are amazing help. Even the two tena should get fairly loud in this box im sure! Will have plenty of power to them.
September 24, 201212 yr Author Whats this box tuned to and its to spec for sundown e 10s? Sorry im stupid lmao
September 24, 201212 yr You will want to get that brace 1.5 tines the width of the port away from the end of the port so it doesn't add to the port's length.Oooopps..... got that fixed now.... There's five inches between the port opening and the brace.Personally I'd move it further. Could also add a small wedge off the port to keep it really tight but you've already done more than most ever will.
September 24, 201212 yr Personally I'd move it further. Could also add a small wedge off the port to keep it really tight but you've already done more than most ever will.I would have moved it farther if I could, and it might be able to go another half inch or more. The problem comes in with the sub cutouts tho, in the redraw there its pretty damn close and in reality when they build it they can get the sub placement a little better than I have to guestimate it for the drawing and place it right next to the sub cutout to gain more distance there. Thank you for the compliment there as well.
September 24, 201212 yr Whats this box tuned to and its to spec for sundown e 10s? Sorry im stupid lmaoIt's built to spec for sure, the specifics were in Quinten's post on the design, below.Below are two popular enclosures that would fit in the room you provided. There were a few parameters that weren't listed on the Sundown site so I used a FEA program to calculate them so they may be a tad off but close enough that it shouldn't matter. The top is a BB4 alignment: 2.08 cubic feet tuned to 36 hertz with a f3 of 32.89The bottom is a C4 alignment: 3.88 cubic feet tuned to 28.9 hertz with a f3 of 25.76 hertz.Because you are looking for the increased lower end I'd go with the C4 alignment. Group delay is much higher than the BB4 but it's not much higher than 28ms and it's only 20ms at 20 hz so it should be fine. Using Small's minimum port area formula you will want to use (2) 4 inch ports or 25.12 square inches of port 19 inches long. With sub displacement this should just fit and give you room between the sub and seat as I took off an inch and a half of the depth measurements you gave.I'd put the subs on the driver side and exit the port toward the passenger side. This is just my preferences someone else might have something else they might want to add.I went with the design for the C4, 3.88cuft tuned to about 29hz.
September 24, 201212 yr Okay, here we go with cutsheets, or something similar anyway.I'll start with the BRACE.Here's the SIDES.Here's the bottom, the very bottom of the board will need to measure 8.75" with a 10 degree angle cut on the front for the baffle to mount to.Here's the top, again the very bottom measurement of the board will need to measure 2.75" with the 10 degree angle on the front for the front of the enclosure. Here's the rear of the enclosure. Here's the front, it will need to measure 36" with the 10 degree angle cut the same direction on both ends. Like a parallelogram. Finally here's the two internal port walls.Look it over closely guys, I could have messed up a figure on a measurement pretty easy as fast as I went through this thing.
September 24, 201212 yr Author Alton. Did you happen to get my text? If so could you call me now or i call you?
September 24, 201212 yr It's no problem, no problem at all. It's just funny, work doesn't have much issue doing a little thing here or there like a drawing in Sketchup or chattin online from time to time, but personal phone calls during the day are very frowned upon, lol. Go figure.
