July 29, 201411 yr Back yard photo shoot for our non profit tonight. I didn't sleep last night so I am WORN out.At least you don't need to go far.J
July 30, 201411 yr Siemens Deka are WAY cheaper. $350 vs $600. Where are you looking?nowhere specific, just choosing what parts I will need so I can shop fort the right deal.
July 30, 201411 yr Ok you mechanics. 99 Chevy Lumina w/ 3.1L, typical GM crap. So funny noises started happening, isolated it to the AC compressor and it seems to be the clutch bearings are out, sounds awful. I find new clutches on rockauto.com for 50$ for a ACDelco part, is it as simple as pulling it off and replacing it? I seem to have worked on most everything but AC systems on cars, any special tools?
July 30, 201411 yr No special tools assuming you can get to it. You can also just replace the bearing for a couple bucks if you want to be a real cheap ass. Make sure you reinstall the shims properly if it is shimmed.
July 30, 201411 yr OMG. Ate lunch at Noodles & Co. How the fuck are there more than one of those stores???? The food isn't even edible, nor does it taste like what the dish is called. Everything on the menu is fucking easy and cheap, not sure where the disconnect is. Makes me want to open a Noodle shop...

Make sure you reinstall the shims properly if it is shimmed. I'm a cheap ass, but not that big of one. Found a youtube of doing it on a V5 compressor, on a Prism which is close enough, which rock auto says it is and getting at it from the bottom seems easy enough.
July 30, 201411 yr Siemens Deka are WAY cheaper. $350 vs $600. We used Siemens back in the day. They were reliable as hell.
July 30, 201411 yr I gravitate towards Bosch since they are tested with our gear. Should I look eslewhere?Same question regading a wideband. AEM with a Bosch probe? And fuck Bosch on O2s. Look at NTK or Denso.

Yes, you will need a clutch puller and installer. You will also need flat feeler gauges to set the clutch gap. I suggest buying a complete compressor.
July 30, 201411 yr FWIW the compressors are known leakers at the press gap midship of the compressor.

Any reason you recommend a complete compressor instead? I'm assuming when the clutch bearing goes, the rest is also worn out too? Car has 90k on it, and I don't see owning it in another year.

July 30, 201411 yr I replaced the bearing in my ac clutch last summer, easy job on the denso's just have to take caution when pressing the new bearing not to deform the assembly itself to rub the compressor housing or clutch magnets.

Everything on the menu is fucking easy and cheap, not sure where the disconnect is. Makes me want to open a Noodle shop... How did you even end up there? The pad Thai and Mac and cheese isn't disgusting, but it isn't good. They opened a new one right by my house. Was at Cub grabbing some ribs for dinner and had no time to cook anything and wanted something fast. While I've eaten there before and been somewhat disgusted it has been a couple years. Had the Pad Thai as I figured it is damn near impossible to fuck up. Was disgusting and NOT Pad Thai. You can't make it without fish sauce and tamarind and it had neither.
July 30, 201411 yr And of course those are the two reasons pad thai is yummy. Plus I really wanted some dried salted shrimp on top, but no instead the shrimp was $4, overcooked and fucking viet-shit shrimp that you shouldn't eat.
July 30, 201411 yr You had a really bad experience. Not surprising though, it's made for suburban moms who don't understand food but want to think they do.I find the pad Thai edible. Same with their Mac and cheese.Never got it with shrimp however.
July 30, 201411 yr I also don't expect Pad Thai when I go on it and order it unless I'm at a Thai place.Even then I don't keep my hopes too high.
July 30, 201411 yr Never even tried to make it.I need to come over once a month to learn something new.
July 30, 201411 yr About to go join the area manager meeting at 9.Showing up early to learn how to pull some reports. My AM wants me to impress our DM.I'm glad I spent some effort showing him how hard I was working.
