Forgot to mention, on leg day I squat 225 for 8 and leg press 1,170 for 6

After 3 sets I dropped to 450 and banged out 18 or 19 on the leg press.

So mechanics. 99 Lumina 3.1l, auto, 93k miles. Recently the temp has been fluctuating while driving quite a bit, it use not do that. I'm down at the in laws but the weather is going to be nice so I can work on it. It doesn't seem to be like a thermostat issue since they fail open, haven't worked on anything, water pump was replaced 10k miles ago, fuse is good for the fans, coolant is 2 years old.

Yep, low coolant. Intakes are prone to leak right at the ends. I hate to say, but it is not a quick job. I can do them in 2.5-3 hours, but I have done this job several hundred times, it is that common. Book is roughly 6 hours. If you do this you MUST keep your pushrods in order as they are different lengths. Sticking them in wrong will lead to bent pushrods or valves. Oh yeah, do your tstat at this time as well. It is gravy with the intake off, and a fucking nightmare with it on...

Oh yeah, bleeding the cooling system on these 3.1s is a fucking nightmare.

1. Opem the bleeder on the front pipe and fill until you have a steady stream.

2. Close it and open the bleeder on the thermostat housing. fill until steady then close.

3. Now run the car until it starts to overheat, replace rad cap and shut down car.

4. let sit for 30 minutes, open the rad cap and fill.

continue with steps 3 and 4 until it no longer overheats...

either or; depends on my mood

I did that job to a 97 grand am gt with 38,000 miles on it. What a fun time.

Then the wife drove the car home on a flat tire half off the rim and told me she did not notice.

Lots of bad luck I had with that car.

Dexcrap is horrible coolant, no doubt.

Kept the system clean but ate up the gaskets.
