Just to be a negative Nancy, I really don't like smart wool socks. They seem to wear out quickly to me.

Is there a general care tip for wool to make them last longer?

Wash them inside out.

I have never had a pair of socks last longer than smartwools other than the birkenstock recycled plastic socks. Those are beasts. But yo feet will stank most likely if you are not wearing them with sandals.

For the record, I only buy the hiking kind. I even wear them with my wool pants and dress shoes. I get compliments from people thinking they are uberfancy.

Sounds about right. At tripple E thickness of socks is of little consequence. But the cushion helps a ton. They are the thinnest hiking socks but still.

Actually width I am fine, but I do go up a shoe size. When shit is already big adding cushion makes it tough. It is damn near impossible to find non-wide 16 or 17 dress shoes though so I stick with skinny socks.

I would love some real wool dress socks, but can't find any in my size. Wear a 15 sock as my foot is rather low volume for its length.
