I didn't watch it, don't plan to, sure the media fucked this up.  Death by another person isn't ever justified however neither is putting oneself in a position that leads to it.

 

Obviously there are exceptions where it is completely justified, like Obama Bin Laden and such.  Above I was just referring to normal human beings, not monsters.

It was murder. He probably didn't intend to, but he murdered him. It wasn't self defense, it was murder. Same as me in a fistfight punching a guy and he dies.

Maybe the cop doesn't deserve an indictment, but he assaulted another human with aggression waaaaaay past what was needed.

Simply put, if you fucked up take the punishment. Kind of like a buddy of mine who has pit vipers as pets. Regardless of how pretty and colorful some of them look. if you put your hand in the cage and get bit, tough shit for you. You knew the consequence's.   

I don't think that guy wanted to be anything but be left alone--regardless of whatever he was doing that was wrong.

 

I don't think he thought I'm gonna be argumentative towards these cops and then I'll be in the media spot light.

 

What you're describing sounds like the by product of the people in the community afterwards--not the guy himself.

I don't want to be prejudice towards cops because I know there's got to be good cops out there, but the majority of my encounters with them off duty has shown them to be of the greatest hypocrites, and that only makes it harder for me to respect them.

IT's human nature.  We are all flawed.  Just like celebrities, people of power are more able to abuse that power and they do.  You would do the same.

My guess is that Stephan s frustration is that they have immunity that goes above and beyond job perks as those perks don't even result in death as a byproduct. This is directly causing death.

Accident or otherwise that officer killed someone. Maybe the punishment of living with that is enough.

It was also one of the softest choke outs I have ever seen. And the person being detained was huge. They didn't know he was asthmatic or had a heart problems. He was just a big scary criminal at the time.

None of that matters in this case. A cop used excessive force, with a hold that is banned. He did it deliberately. He did it when there were countless other options. That cop needs to face his consequence just as you did yours Seth.

Again, maybe an indictment isn't the answer, but it sure would be if it wasn't a cop.

2nd point is that police should be held to a higher standard. If they don't like that, then they shouldn't do the job. This wasn't even some rookie uniform. It was obviously an overzealous guy trying to do an extra good job.

His mistakes results in deaths directly by his hands. So yeah, he should be judged harder than anyone.

My role in leadership means I have to be judged harder. Same for a cop.

I have seen plenty of times where the cops beat the fucking life out of someone who isn't resisting. You can definitely argue that the big dude was resisting. Then use a technique that is approved and appropriate.

No, I got what you meant. But with different career paths, different options are open. I'm not saying I condone it, but far be it from me to condemn it. No matter how slight my benefits, and the harm that may come from it comparatively, if I choose to step outside the norm it is hard for me to point a finger while being wholly honest with myself. I'm honestly not sure there was any other real option. That was one big fuckin' dude! IMO it was the best option he saw at the time, and with the blind side open he had to do something. They can't just let someone breaking the law go because he is a big dude, or because he is objecting to it... Imagine our streets if that were the case.

 

I agree that the fact that the dude died sucks ass. Seriously, there are very few people who deserve to die like that.

 

I think what irritates me is the way it is portrayed... "COP EXECUTES MAN FOR SELLING SINGLE UNTAXED CIGARETTES". I mean seriously? Execution entails something completely different then a maneuver intended to subdue an individual that accidentally ended in a freak accidental death. I bet that same maneuver has been doled out thousands of time without any real injury, much less death. This cop didn't go into the altercation wanting to kill the man. I am certain that was the furthest thing from his mind. Unfortunately, that was the end result.

I know that I'm just a white boy, but I have only had one instance in my life that I thought a cop was unnecessarily obnoxious to me. My buddy was driving and he ran a yellow light making a turn and screeching the tires (under the speed limit) in the middle of the day, no traffic. He couldn't get him for anything but "reckless driving" which means he would have had to take us to jail. So instead he asked us a bunch of question. He asked where I was planning to go to college and when I answered he said, "Well, it's hard to go there when your dead!" He asked for my ID and I didn't have it and he said, "Well, how would they ID the body if you got in a crash and died!" Throughout it all, we stayed courteous.

 

He tried to have both my friends parents show up so that one could drive his vehicle home. Once he was told that only the dad could show he made him "escort" us home. When my buddies dad ended up getting there, he started off polite with the cop. The cop got rude with him, and then he lit into the cop and eventually the cop backed down. It was a weird situation where I think the cop wanted to scare some punk kids, but we weren't being punks.

I just saw cops beat friends bloody. Smashed one buddies face in.

Another "friend" was shot in the spine while running naked down the street.

It is what it is.
