April 3, 20169 yr Grabbed up 2 more Rush records yesterday; Hemispheres and 2112. That means I have all their epics on vinyl. I'm generally not a huge fan of Rush, but I do love their ability to play. Their epics afford them a ton of time to show off their abilities. My favorites are "The Necromancer" and "The Fountain of Lamneth" with kick ass drum interludes and guitar interludes. It's amazing how pucking good Alex Lifeson was so early in his career. Anyways, after Hemispheres Rush started with the more radio friendly short songs they are so well known for, of which there are very few records they have worth buying IMO. There are a few great songs, but not like the epics. Epics (for those interested): "The Necromancer"- Caress of Steel- 12:34 "Fountain of Lamneth"- Caress of Steel- 19:58 "2112"- 2112- 20:34 "Cygnus X- Book II: Hemispheres"- Hemispheres- 18:08 "La Villa Strangiato (An Exercise in Self-Indulgence)"- Hemispheres- 9:35 The center 3 comprise the entire side of their perspective album.
April 3, 20169 yr I know nothing about Rush. It was something that I never experienced. Thanks for the rec, maybe I'll get some exposure.
April 3, 20169 yr Try spotify or some other service. I am not a big fan of Geddy Lee's voice, but as a group they may be the most technical and talented rock musicians ever assembled. This is 70s hard rock, so ignore some of the cheesy interludes common in the era, and check out the real music. I like Caress of Steel. By far it is their worst received album ever, but 2 of my favorite Rush songs (the epics listed above) are on it. It was released in 1975 and only reached gold (500,000 sales) in 1993... 18 years to sell 1/2 a million albums. It was such a failure that many thought it was the end of Rush. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caress_of_Steel I like the musicianship and dynamics. They sound amazing through the analog rig.

Wink Wink nudge nudge, say no more. Great money, everything spanking new, not over run by chains, better taxes than MD, and loads of young professionals. Though you have to deal with out of control VA cops and cost of living is actually higher there than here.

April 3, 20169 yr Scored in our first soccer game. Pretty much means the season is a success. Also noticed my gym time didn't make me Huff and puff less but I was able to give it more and I don't feel sore today. Need to hit the gym today.
April 4, 20169 yr National ran out of econoboxes so they gave me a TSI Jetta. Torquesteers like a bastard but it's fun to flog
