Perhaps talk to some local mechanics and see who they use, and who to avoid.

I like that idea so much it is all that I have done.

Even drove down to TPI Specialties to ask them.  No cigar.  My effin' neighbor works at Dynotech and he doesn't know either.  Stupid 6l80's must not fail all that much.

How would you guys shop for a transmission shop if you knew no one.  I've been such a DIY'er that I really have no recommendations locally.  It is for a 6L80e and I want a mostly stock rebuild with bigger clutch packs.  Nothing fancy as the flying pig doesn't need to fly any higher.

I would get an exploded view of the assembly and all the specs and do it myself.

Might be a fun hands on for you and the little men.

In most cases I have come across.

If I didn't have kids and/or a job that made me travel I would as well.  Also doesn't help that it is currently my only car.

At the very least it makes it more fun

God damn mower is fucked.  Son of a fucking bitch I'm pissed off.

2 hours to get a belt on to find out the clutch isn't working right.  It goes into gear and won't come out no matter if I have the clutch down or not.  So cranky.

I'm rather surprised local dyno shops can't recommend anywhere.  Failure in networking on their part.

Every place they recommend says 4l80 swap and that 7k I am not spending

Cause they're lazy bastards that don't want to learn the new scary trans six speed Hydramatics.

Tried getting a hold of Circle D in Houston?

15, 30 round AR mags loaded and 45 stripper clips ready to reload the mags!

Circle D is $7k for a performance build + shipping.

Swap for a 4l80, seems like a pain.  Can a dealer just do the rebuild for you with upgraded parts and then you get a loaner too.

Dealers don't rebuild.  They simply remove old parts and install new.
