Matt, what happened at Slamology? I saw you asked Shizzzon if that's why he was trying to make his car like one of those storm chaser cars.

Just out of curiosity, is this thread motivated by what happened at Slamology?

As far as I know some equipment got stolen from cars.

Oh okay.

Another buy that is needed before is a camera. She wants a "compact" dslr. I'll probably have to go in the used market.

Defeats the purpose.  Point & shoot or DSLR.

Of course the caveat being if you can live with a single prime.

Can you go into detail more on living with a single prime?

Wife already is balking on the idea because we don't "need" one for what we do.

Drop ~500$ or so on a point and shoot and be happy.  New P&S cameras are seriously good.

Wife is thinking that we will never get to honeymoon. Got to do some work on it. Want to go out of the country but can't afford it. Open to staying in USA though, plenty we haven't seen...

Any ideas?

Loved our cruise, wasn't that expensive either.

Take that woman on a honeymoon, hell even its 3 days in a nice hotel/town or spa somewhere you haven't been before.

What do you concrete guys recommend as the best sealer for the exterior??

I though you had mentioned a urethane based sealer but I cannot find one at the local hardware store.

R2.. I know you know concrete...

Couldn't disagree more.  Used a G1X while on vacation and even though it had some advantages on my 7 year old SLR, the pictures even taken focused on those advantages were horseshit in comparison.  For the same dough a used 40d and 17-85mm can be had which kills ALL p&s camera's on the market by a landslide.  Step up to a real piece of glass like a 50 1.8 for the same dough and you have an awesome machine.  Only downfall then is that the zoom you need will be via crop, but considering that not so many of us print 16x20's that isn't all that big of a deal either.

I should have clarified.  I was referring to caulking when I mentioned sealant,  not a paint or something.  I was talking about the crack you were referring to.

The epoxy works great on concrete as does polyurethane paint which is essentially truck bed lining.  If you have a local Line-X, see if they have a portable unit and have them come out and spray your shit.

Stefan, curious how you found tightvnc and why you selected it.

Only ask because I feel like an absolute computer idiot on here regularly although in regular life my friends consider my knowledge in that regard in a complete opposite light.

You just like to say cock-ing.

I am curious to see what a line-x'd piece of shit would look like.

Don't get me wrong, the bottleneck on the G camera was me; however, the flexibility and power of the SLR is nutso in comparison.

The lens is crap at resolving in comparison, it has a much better ISO performance but STILL lacks more in low light, and has more shutter/focus lag.

In hindsight, my camera is only 5.5/6yrs old not 7 but still that says a shit ton.

And ugh, wtf Windows. Trying to mirror my dad's old pc drive. The Documents & Settings/Windows/Program Files folders don't copy so nice.

ie, I copy them and the source is WAY larger than the end location. I want it all off IDE so I can scrap the drive but backed in case he forgot something (like backing up his Quicken file - Doh.gif ). I know if I don't, it'll be a headache later.

Not ready for a migration in operating system though as it sets me back a good 30 hours to get the automation system all dialed. In particular since I am too stupid to log what I do so it is back to square one.

He probably knew about TightVNC because of the term VNC itself.

There has been many remote programs with the word VNC in them that have either all or mostly been free so VNC names programs will be more popular.
