Holy shiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeettttttttttt

AAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNND I'm spooked on an A3 for another year.  Thank you.

I think it would be fun working on cars like that.

Sure, for those of us with the time, space, money, tools, equipment, skills and spare car. ;) ;)

I mean from a service point. It would help me understand why they do some of the crazy shit they do. Not sure if I would ever own something like that.

I gotta get some video clips of a late model circle track car with an alcohol 383 revving to 7 grand.

I rev my V8 over 7 grand everytime I drive. Hell pretty much at every stop light. And no it doesn't sound as good, but it doesn't suck

I rev my 2-rotor over 9 grand everytime I drive.  No, not at every stop light and no it doesn't sound as good, but it still sounds great. ;)

I really love all that something like an A3 or RS6 have specs wise; manual/AWD/good power with huge potential/wagen/great handling/aftermarket parts etc. etc., but the cost to maintain, insure and in general own, is just out of the realm of what I am comfortable opening my wallet up to.  So few wagens available with similar features.  Pretty much leaves it to a Speed3/STI/A3/328i.  C-class wagen is gone and was never offered in manual, E55AMG is $$$ and not manual and so on.

From a service point of view you will just continually question their engineering on a lot of things. Often times you will find yourself dumbfounded by their engineering.

Their notes are quite distinct. Myself, i find the 4 rotor sound extremely intoxicating.

You know, for years i've been trying to figure out why the Speed3/Focus/C30 has not received AWD. They've done it in EU (Focus) without adding cost, so why can't they do it here?

I do that with some of our current equipment. Often asked Neal I know this is not your job, but would you look at this piece of equipment and make it better, easier to use, more realiable, etc. I am always curious and enjoy this type of work. But adult sitting pays more currently.

Americans hate AWD or 4wd on sporty cars usually.

If they changed the marketing to "all the performance, but capable of winter too" or something like that, it would be different.

....weird. biomechanical engineering pays a Fucking mountain of money in most places.

When I wanted to be a doctor I wanted to go into that field.

Making machines and people work together better is just about the best job to have. Other than running shit.

Our company is very production based, I have had a couple chances to go to engineering. While I do enjoy the work, I don't feel like taking a paycut to do that job. Production pay is very similar pay to a mechanics pay and maintenance is viewed as a necessary evil. Engineering is viewed as we can get them cheaply out of Penn State use them and send them on their way.

Beats me, I hate torque steer.

Your company needs an overhaul. Or maybe they see an impending problem soon and are bracing for that.

Increasing productivity per dollar or per worker, or work unit... However you name it should always be #2 priority for growth and ultimately survival. And I don't mean push workers hard, I mean efficiency and helping them get their part done faster or easier or less chance of injury etc etc.

#1 is getting orders. :-)

Something else Americans think is that AWD always means only one tire pulling/pushing the car. They don't know modern systems can spin all 4.

3 buddies just argued with me that even modern AWD systems only drive one tire at a time. And thus ooooold 4x4 is still better.

Not saying their method is correct, but they have been doing business that way since 1991. We are growing and growing.

Get what you want and can afford.

And therein lies part of the issue. I am not 100% certain what I want. I have stated before that I would drive the damn thing till the wheels fell off, and am still partial to that plan, just wondering if its a bright idea.

I am stuck in a debate here guys. I love my Tundra. Minus the flakey MPG, she's been pretty great to me. But with my severance check, I am debating on spending about 20k paying her off, or trading it in on something else. The ONLY issues I have had is over the last two weeks my cigarette lighters/charging ports quit working(changed fuse tonight but no change) the USB quit charging my cell (prolly bad cable as it charged my iPod fine) and the antenna came loose today.

She does everything I ask and has ample room (comfortable fit 3 220lb+ men and 2 women in it for a 3 hr each way trip two weeks ago) and the towing has been great to me. I just. Don't know if I should get something else.

I have been contemplating a Raptor, a Jeep STR8, or a F150 harley edition.

J

I'll drive a vehicle until the wheels fall off. While I know I am in the minority here, I feel it is just a way to get to and from and frankly I couldn't give a fuck about it as long as it is reliable and in the case of my "nice" vehicle it should look decent. My truck it just a work truck, and I treat it as such. I say just drive it. I haven't had a car payment in 17 years. Keep your money for more important things, like a place to live.

What year Tundra? Engine and trans (manual/auto)? Trim (ie: SE/XE/TRD)? I'll look at the diagrams and lead you to a fix for the charger/lighter.

2011 SR5 with the TRD Off Road package. Automatic, 4x4, no navi, power drivers seat, back up cam.

J

Something else Americans think is that AWD always means only one tire pulling/pushing the car. They don't know modern systems can spin all 4.

Is that even physically possible?

Seth, you are the man.

I am a drive it until it breaks in half kinda guy also. I won't give up on that old Ford. LoL I know you would have dumped that thing by now.

Mr Ford hater.

I wish there was a shop with you in it closer.

Move to North Carolina ;)
