The Tahoe I'm looking at has the ignition issue. Is it's an easy fix? Just unbolt out in a new ignition and reprogram a new key or is it a nightmare. Remember I've installed maybe 2,000 remote starts so I know my way around a Chevy ignition harness. I haven't even looked at it. It may even bee a loose wire.

Depends on the passlock system being used, and the issues it has. GM usually uses a rolling code with an internal pickup and resistor. Inside the lock cylinder there is a sensor that reads a magnet that must be in the proper position when the key turns. Being integral, it is rarely a communication failure issue. GM's relearn is typically 10 minutes key on engine off (KOEO), up to 30 seconds key off, 10 minutes KOEO, up to 30 seconds key off, 10 minutes KOEO, 30 seconds key off, then start the car. I have had to run through the relearn a couple times because the antitheft module either didn't see the cycle correctly, or I made a mistake. Very rarely the antitheft module will lock up and need to be reprogrammed. If the antitheft module has been replaced, it will need to be reflashed. Different vehicles use different modules that house the antitheft module. In most cases it is in the BCM (body controller), although it is also sometimes located in the IPC (instrument panel) or as a stand alone module.

More information on the actual issue, year make and model, and a pic of the key will help me narrow it down. At the throat of the key (just below the grab handle) you may see a "PK3", a "3" a "III" or some other designation indicating a 3, possibly an X. In which case the key pic will not be necessary. Also, with regards to the failure issue, a telltale on the dash indicating "Security" or a green key flashing may help to narrow down a security issue or an actual ignition issue. I have seen a few ignition switch issues (electrical portion, not the lock cylinder) cause really odd problems, so that is fairly common.

so who purchased the ps4?

I refuse to purchase Sony's initial console launches. I will wait 6 months to a year for them to iron out the bugs that will undoubtedly plague the PS4.

Father in law is on town for the night. Asked me to grab some scotch/whiskey on the way home. I've never had scotch before but I am a fan of whiskey. He told me to grab Buchanan's master. Anybody else drink this stuff or should scotch not be blended like this?

For Scotch, single malt is key. Blended is a no-no.

and FWIW, it is no secret I am a huge fan of whiskeys. Irish, Tennessee, Bourbon... but I am not a Scotch man by any means.

Some of the PS4s people are getting are "broken" straight out of the box. Some issues with metal tab blocking part of hdmi port and faulty firmware. Sony has said it's an isolated incident, but it appears to be a bit bigger than what they're leading on.

I'll probably order one in a few months once the issues are solved.

I have been screwed by buying Sony's initial launch too many times. I am not surprised at all about the issues. I love their platforms, but I am not going to get fucked again. They usually get their issues fixed by the "slimline" release. My PS3 slimline is one of the original slims, and it still works.

I've only ever had the xbox and xbox 360. One of which had the red ring of death which sucked, so buying a PS will be a first for me. Gonna take a while to get use to the controller though.

Their statement was about .4% so a really small amount. Microsoft screwed the pooch last time with the red ring of death.

The lack of launch titles is the worst part.

Considering it literally just came out, it's pretty hard to put a number on it yet imo. Hopefully it's just a bad batch or lot.

Right. I haven't person lay looked at it. It's happened to the twice this week. It's a 2003 model. They say if they wiggle the key it'll crank. That's the tale tell sign of the infamous loose ignition wiring witch I can fix in matter of minutes. If it was pass key it would turn over but not crank correct?

I've never been into the newer consoles. If they came out with some games like the old Mario's or Zelda that took 6 months to complete I'd be more interested to purchase. Why would I want to spend 60 bucks on halo when I can download bejeweled on my phone for free.

Rofl. Why would you buy a viper when you can get a fiesta for 500 bucks?

Passkey usually allow the vehicle to start and run for 3 seconds then it kills fuel. After 3 attempts it will lock out the starter.

Glad you're ok Stefan. Rear ended always sucks. Did you go get checked out?

Myself nah, she didn't hit my car very hard so I didn't have any whiplash or anything. Surprisingly it smashed her car pretty though.

That's how it is, the front end is designed to absorb rather than resist an impact.
