Oil change tomorrow before work or on friday. Hoping the brakes won't need replaced too. 46k on the truck, and i've only needed to replace the tires, windshield wiper blades, and changed the air filter for a k&n.

I'd take the K&N off and go back to paper.

Any reason why? The change to the K&N actually achieved higher MPG's (took mesurements over a 2 week time for each filter) of over 2 mpgs.

I also ripped out the carbon filter on the pipe as well.

All the testing I've seen has shown no gains over stock these days and the flip side is worse filtering. Stock filters do a better job than a clean and lubed K&N and a non-maintained K&N is a terrible filter.

And J, not a fucking chance in hell you went up 2 mpg. There is not a single manufacturer that can leave that on the table today.

Ok you ford people.  One of my buddies has a 2000 Explorer with the 4.0L and a fuel injector is bad, he had a bad one 2 months ago that he paid a shop to replace and now since another one is out we are just going to replace all 6 of 'em.  Is this a PITA job to do or pretty gravy?  I know in my 5.0L you have to pull the intake, but on my Cadillac it was easy as heck to get the fuel injectors/rail out.  Shop wants 1200$ to do this, sounds way to high to me.

Just tellin ya what the. Numbers were. Could of been any number of variables tho.

Pehaps i'll go back to paper for another try.

That would be so awesome :D

Mine's not allowed out on the street and if the gate is open, she usually bolts out. But for ~2 weeks she learned that when I want to get the car out, she should stay in the dog house and not come out until I close the gate. I'm actually proud of her, she's 9 years old :)

There is a free one and one that you pay for, which do you like better?

Because it will load up your MAF sensor.

Intake will have to come off, but it is easy.

Yes. From beginning to end, yes.

Paid is a bit better. It is cheap, so it may be worth it to you.

If you oil it improperly.

Believe what you want. I make a lot of money off of properly oiled K&Ns.

In the long term the oil will pull through the filter and it will stick to a MAF. Period. It will negatively affect the fuel economy and power of the vehicle. People can argue all they want, but my paycheck reflects what it does.
