I'm waiting on my wire to come in so I'm trying to map out how I'm going to wire it up. 1998 Ext f150, 2 15 ufo btls on a saz 3500 for now, eventually 5-7k, Audio Technix ofc 0ga and 10ga just for background info.

This will be my first time running my own wire so I just wanted to double check this would be sufficent for my build. I would like to avoid cutting a hole in the floor and since I had a couple holes already I figured I'd use them. The holes are the mounting holes for my back bench that I took out. Obviously the carpet will be cut away completely and the area will be sanded/cleaned up.

I'm thinking use a bolt (with or without washers idk what is better) and have ring terminals on both sides. Inside going to amps or batteries and on the underside connect the bolt to the frame with a couple runs. Or would connecting it to the frame not be worth it? There is 1 hole on each side total of 2.

I'm not sure if these pics will even help but I wasn't sure what would haha.

And the other hole. (that amp will not be mounted there)

and the other underside

I know this is asked a lot so I apologize but I just want to make sure this is a good ground and not just a ground that will get me by since I will be upgrading power later.

thanks.

I don't see any pics

if you have no plans on re installing the rear seat id say drill those holes out and ground straight to the frame. some people swear by grounding to the frame ive done it and didnt see a difference id just ground to the hole with a bolt and washers

Ground directly to the frame. And add a ground at the battery directly to the frame under the hood.

Go straight to frame if possible. I will say when I was only running a single 1500 I had a Kicker GT1 ground block and sanded a thick part of the floor down and had it mounted and it worked great.

Best buy also sells them. Just find a good thicker reinforced area and take a grinder and going down to bare metal and mount this with bolts or big self tappers

Thanks guys.

I was trying to say I would ground to the bolt inside the cab and then under the truck I would run 1/0 from the same bolt to the frame.

Or would that not even be different from grounding straight to the cab floor?

Drilling out the holes may be an option.

Can nobody see the pics? The hole goes straight through the cab floor (I think small gauge sheet metal) and is probably ~6inchs from the frame on the underside.

Off topic: Swift do you have a build log?

Edit: I think the pics are too big.

I see what you are saying, but it would be best to drill a hole and run directly to the frame. Be sure to use a good grommet, and you wont have any issues.

if you got straight to the frame, sand it as well. attach the ground and paint over.

pics work for me

I have done a few installations in that bodystyle F150. The only good grounds I found were at the negative battery terminal under the hood. I would not use the floor at all. Direct to the frame would also be a great idea as othersabove ^^^ have said.

Alright thanks for the heads up. Looks like I'll most likely be drilling out the holes for 1/0 then.

yeah I would be sanding everything clean. So attach the ring terminals and then like spray paint over them?

Yea, using a rust inhibitor helps.
