Posted February 25, 201312 yr A friend of mine would like to put together a system that is loud enough to be heard while playing drums. I guess the idea is that he plays while listening to music and he's tired of doing so while wearing headphones. budget: <300 for speakers and amp i'm doubt a small bookshelf system will be capable so i was thinking, with his budget constraints, pro audio gear. his best bet would probably be used gear but would anyone have a new option? he is not very interesting in building the enclosure himself and i live too far away to help him with that.
February 25, 201312 yr I do pro audio as well. $300 isn't very much to work with since you will need a signal source for the amp like a processor, and then you still have the speakers and amplifier to buy as well. $600 would be a start.
February 25, 201312 yr This might get it for $300.http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio/harbinger-ha120-portable-pa-system
February 25, 201312 yr The link I provided is a good start. You will defiantly hear the music over the drums.
February 27, 201312 yr While I missed that it is truly the best way. In particular with that budget. You can get some in ear monitors almost for that price and put the headphones away. Would allow them to be used as monitors in a show then too.
