hey guys, i've been trying to think up all the slang/jargon that has to do with cars, let's see what all you can think of

so far, i've got:

bump stick = cam shaft

blower = supercharger

hairdryer = turbocharger (or is it a supercharger? im not sure)

slush box = transmission

skinnies = tiny front tires

juice = hydraulics or nitrous, depending

Dubs= 20's

Dub Dueces= 22's

Shoes are rims, not tires

Diegoed (sp?)= lowered in front and stock or lifted in the rear.

Tuckin= sits above the fender lip.

NOS= nitrious, even though NOS is a brand name

And everyones favourite;

Pop trunk= remote trunk popper for bass drive buys

Only in TX though

'Doggin=bull doggin=lower in the rear

Jacked = lifted

dropped = lowered

thingie ma bob = all things automotive (and is unaversally acceptible)

slammed = uber low

mouse motor= SBC

elephant= hemi, big hemi

mountain motor+ any huge displacement motor

rockcrusher = fabled m22 four speed

toploader= earlier style ford manual tranny

tranny= transmission

spray= nitrous

draggin chrome = huge wheelstand

caged= roll cage inside car

cager= car or truck, anything not a motorcycle

ricer= need i explain??

that's all i can sit and think of..lol...

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:

Slush box is typically reserved for Auto trannies Acid.

Pumpkin = rear (front on 4x4) differential.

Slicks (self explanatory I think)

Mouse = small block chevy.

chop = lowered roof

sectioned = body "chop" .... eg. doors and fenders have front to back piece removed then rewelded.

channeled = lowering the body by modifying the floor pan usually.

tubbed = cutting out and creating new bigger wheel wells to fit drag slicks.

I'll think of more later I'm sure.

Sleeper..ahh yes

Stealth= chrome delete, blacked out lights ect ect...everything black

Granny shifting.

Speed shifting.

double clutching (I know what it is but 90% of "car guys" get it wrong :( )

Power shifting.

In 4x4, "Granny gear" is often used.

When you take the CDL test, you are supposed to double clutch, in reality, no one does.

My understanding of double clutching is (never had to use it since I've never takin the CDL test, don't plan on it either, but I can still drive a semi...) Use the clutch to put the transmission in neutral, match the revs needed to downshift and use the clutch again to put into gear again. Used on unsychronized transmissions, you don't even need to do it if your know what your doing.

Powershifting is when you shift a manual transmission w/o taking your foot outa the fuel.

Granny shifting is shifting a tranny the normal slow way

Never heard of speed shifting

Granny gear = uber low gearing.
