Posted June 5, 201312 yr Aaron approached me about building a budget 2.1 setup for watching movies on his laptop. We came to the agreement to build two small towers which will have four 3" full range speakers per side arranged in a line array. Each tower will be roughly.5 cubic feet sealed after displacements. A SoundSplinter Orphan 8 will be used for subwoofer duty. The woofer enclosure is .65 cubic feet after displacements, which is rather large for the orphan but very low power is being used. June 5, 201312 yr I like the simplicity of the system. Are you using any type of crossover on the towers? I'm interested in seeing the results of the Orphan. I am currently making the Zaph ZDT and will be using an Orphan as the sub stage if I like the sound of it. I plan on running it with a PR though.

I plan on running it with a PR though.The Dayton amplifier will be used for the crossovers.I am very interested in your opinions of the ZDT after you are done. I am still considering them for my setup.
June 6, 201312 yr Sweet, ought to sound jice. You may need some tapering on the response but if its a desktop thwt is easily done on the pc

After I finish this set for Aaron, I may have to build my own LOVE the bracing in the tiny box!Thank you WHAT ARE YOU USING TO CUT THAT MDF?!?!?! those are some perfect cuts if you ask mePanel saw for large cuts and a table saw for the smaller ones. Just takes time and patience. I have had plenty of practice Nice Enclosures !!! Reviews on that amplifier doesn't seem to be that great ... Hope it works out for you !!! Yeah I see that, hopefully it works great for Aaron and does what it needs to. It looks like the crossover may be the weakpoint. Luckily like Sean said above and PC is pretty flexible with programs used to adjust crossover and output points.
