June 24, 201312 yr Author well when I have the money ready to spend ill ask you for a price though the 80 prs is looking sweet I found it new for 268 shipped but do you have any suggestions for me you've helped me since Ive started posting here
June 24, 201312 yr Judging by your goals any of those will work for you. The 80prs would give you a lot of flexibility if you upgrade your front stage in the future.
June 24, 201312 yr Author do you have any others you would recommend I couldn't find many others without touchscreen on the high end even after searching I was hoping for opinions on what I picked and additional suggestions im gonna be paying on this jeep for like 5 more years so I wanna do the stereo right and that begins with the source the top of the line alpines I found didn't seem to have as many features how do they compare sound quality wise and what are other good brands and models?

The pioneer only if you think you would use it's active capabilities.
June 24, 201312 yr Love my 80prs. Haven't used any of the others you mentioned and I doubt I will. I like how much control I get with the pioneer. It does have a lot of options that most people don't need. If you have plans for your front stage, plan to go active one day then the 80prs will be a good move. Makes me wish I went active instead of passive
June 24, 201312 yr Author I may do active one day im doing my stereo piece by piece and I have found both the 997 and 80 for the same price though I am partial to pioneer ive loved every product ive had by them is there any high quality head unit brands Im missing other then kenwood pioneer a;[ine and jvc?

I had a two bad Alpines which left a bad taste in my mouth, but others swear by them. Jvc is decent too.

June 24, 201312 yr Author yea I think I will as soon as cash comes in I just wanted to make sure there weren't any I was over looking it seemed to be the most solid and versatile choice now I just gotta figure out how I want to install it etc due to my jeep being canbus and I don't want the factory amp or wiring for my stereo though im slightly attached to the input for my speedometer so if anyone has anyone that has done a head unit install in a 11-12 patriot or compass with the boston system and have eliminated the factory amp as well as ran all new speaker wire while retaining all functionality without that dam expensive adapter id love to pic their brain
June 24, 201312 yr Another with the x996. I can honestly say that it is one hell of a headunit for sound quality, but it lacks in the active network. This would be the only advantage to getting the 80. I am currently in the middle of going active and now im stuck knowing i am going to be doing a swap soon. Sometimes it pays to just get what you think you might need vs settling. I never thought i'd be switching until I found a good set of horns and now i've been sucked in lol
June 24, 201312 yr Author yea that was what I was thinking considering I can get both same price why not have the extra potential for expandability for when I can wrap my head around what active is and how to do it lol
